Supposedly the reason why we got the T6 rather than the T7 is because of the diesel engine. The T7 doesn't have a diesel option right now.
But what i think VW ph doesn't seem to understand that thou pinoys would love for the multivan to be diesel the price point that the VW Multivan is placed at the buyers are not as swayed to diesel as those other car units with prices below 1M.
In Europe, the T7 has not replaced the T6.1 as it is a smaller vehicle fitting between the Sharan and the T6.1. Considering that VW PH has phased out the Crafter with the introduction of the Multivan Kombi, then the T7 would have been an even greater reduction in size.

The direct replacement of the T6.1 is still at least a year off and will be the next model from the VW and Ford cooperation. The new model will provide replacements for the Ford Transit and VW Transporter. Production for Europe will be at the Ford Otosan plant in Turkey, this will free up capacity at the VW Hannover plant for the T7 and all-electric ID Buzz.

Interesting note, in Europe the T6.1 Kombi and T6.1 Multivan are two separate models, the Kombi being the most basic passenger-carrying "bus" version, then there is the Caravelle which is a bit more upmarket and the and the Mulotivan being a more flexible version of the Caravelle, finally there are the California and California Beach. The California has a fitted kitchen with a gas cooker and coolbox and the California Beach has a fold-away gas cooker. Previously there were 3 California versions - California Beach, Califonia Coast and California Ocean.
