good day!
I just want to consult if may problem yung transmission ng car namin. Ride is 2003 diesel adventure SS, manual, 90k mileage. Ok naman yung shifting on gears 1 to 3, even 4th gear. Problem is when coasting using 4th gear. If im engaged in 4th, tapos i gradually applied the brakes to slow down, I hear rattling sounds sa ilalim, parang nanggagaling sa may propeller. It only occurs kapag i slowed down to about 15kph and not stepping on the gas. I can even feel the vibration on the stick shift. But if i step on the gas and the engine revs to pick up speed, the sound disappears. I had a change oil done about 2 months ago, and the gear oil was checked and refilled at the gas station.
Walang problem with regards to shifting or pulling power. 5th gear and reverse has no problems too. Dun lang talaga sa 4th gear coasting at low speed.
I'm just curious if this is a normal occurrence sa adventure for its age, or may problem na yung transmission nya?
Insights are highly appreciated. TIA.

What's your RPM like, coasting at 15kph in 4th gear?
If I'm not mistaken, that's quite close to stalling the engine and it might be vibrating at this point, causing the rattle you hear.

RPM at around 1200-1300. when i reach the point na mabagal na talaga, i'd step on the clutch. the sound then disappears once the clutch is disengaged. when i downshift to 3rd gear, clutch engages smoothly and no vibration is felt. i could do the same scenario but coasting at 3rd gear, no rattling could be heard. it is only at 4th gear that the rattling is present.

^^ true sirs, i checked my speed lately and it was rattling at 20-25kph pala. my mistake.
anyways, i had a mechanic looked into it, diagnosed it to have my cross joints replaced. im still seeking a 2nd opinion, since i'll have the unit serviced next week pa naman. hopefully, it'll solve the problem.
thanks for the replies.

yes sir, i admit medyo medyo mababa. nasanay kasi ako sa gas engine, kahit low speed wala ka mafe-feel na vibration even at high gear. period of adjustment ako sa diesel namin ngayon. though i've been driving our company service once in a while, 2003 GLS sport advie na diesel din, and i don't experience the same rattles and vibration on the same gearing-speed setup.
Not just the engine. It's literally a D-Max with Mazda styling, but everything mechanical is Isuzu....
