there is no need to replace really, unless you're a 'clutch driver'. all and still, there is no substitute for M/T. you just have to replace the transmission oil every 40T Kms. think about this, when you got yourself an A/T when got your batteries flat, you can't get it started unless you have a jumpstart cable, or tow it without having to lift the vehicle on its drive wheels...

I've had quite a few stick shift cars, they're great if you don't have to deal with a lot of traffic. My current cars tranny (auto/tiptronic) is okay. Wifes car has a cvt (nissan murano). Lots of power but gas mileage is not that great. I test drove an Audi A3 with a DSG a couple weeks back and that is probably the best transmission right now.Beats manual and auto.

ako naman i have both matic and manual been driving manual since i got nagstart ako magdrive and right now i think it really depends on the car e kung mga small cars like mga altis jazz etc id prefer manual if its bigger na mga suv like pajreo expe id get a matic pero for everyday? manual nlng ako mas masaya ako and same lang e kung traffic nakakapagod din ang matic on both feet gas brake gas brake and the other walang ginagawa ......

overall mas for manual ako iba parin e expecially on performance cars plus mas reliable de nagkakaproblema

Pinakakalaban natin sa M/T is the need to replace the clutch after a number of years or miles. Badtrip dito is wala pang way para mapagawa na lang yung parts kaysa palit ng palit.

So far, SMG and DSG are beginning to bridge the gap between M/T performance and A/T convenience. These innovative gearboxes already perform the same, if not even better, than their stickshift counterparts. For example, the Volkswagen Golf GTi DSG accelerates to 60 mph .3 second quicker than the manual.

Perhaps the cost of building such transmissions is still a problem, which is why they haven't found their way in economy cars. I guess CVT is the best answer so far.

Go for the matic! If between Altis and MX, I suggest Altis. Goodluck in your final pick.
