Does anyone remember why the old traffic reduction scheme was called "color coding"? It was only later changed to number coding (UVVRP), right, but it originally started out as a color-coding scheme.

I think number coding yung rule ever since, kaya lang, color coding yung tawag since mas madali sigurong tandaan dahil familiar na yung ibang tao sa concept of color coding...wild guess lang ito :-)

first time i heard of the term "color coding" was way back in high school. it was in electronics class, when we were studying resistors. The resistance of a resistor was indicated by colored bands around the resistor, each color corresponding to a number then the last band was a multiplier.

i guess the scheme is the same for the "color coding" scheme for vehicles, except wala na colors to memorize, kasi the ending number na ang gamit sa "coding" day mo.

    color coding... AFAIK:

the original plan then was to afix COLORED stickers on the windshield of cars to distinguish and segregate them. but this idea was scrapped and the ending plate number was used instead for simplicity's sake.

this was first test piloted on buses but its actual implementation on cars was halted and this was replaced by the UVVRP number-coding scheme.

well, since Filipinos have a penchant for using old terms, hence the name color coding was retained (think calling all films Kodak).
