Btw, I've tried loosening the brackets already para lang ma push inside the farthest ang stepboard.
You might want to consider egging-out the mounting holes to be able to push it further in. But that's probably fine. At least it won't scratch the paint.

You can also try rubber weather strips to cover up the gap.

It's safer that way imho para if masagi kunti hindi agad sasayad sa kotse. Okay lang may gap basta uniform both sides imho

Update on the step board. I was able to push it in. There was a plastic lining under the side that was limiting the push. Bale tinatamaan na sya. Inipit ko na lang ang plastic lining. Mukhang strong naman sya. There are 3 brackets used underneath that are made of what I think is cast iron.

All good na. Salamat sa mga responses. :-)

Is the slim-type step boards actually useful to passengers? Given that the vehicle is just on stock tires and suspension.

I can see this being helpful in reaching for the cargo if you have a roof rack.

Beyond that, it seems like it's only useful when you're cleaning the roof. In fact, I've been mulling over installing one just for that purpose.

It's not as wide as I hoped. My (small size) wife has a hard time stepping down. We still use a mobile stool. ;-)

I'm even considering pulling it out a bit and go back to my original problem na hindi sya dikit sa body. He he.. If so, it may be a problem for me but not for my wife.

I heard that Toyota has a wider "Fortuner style" step board, mahal lang talaga.

Try nya muna, butt-in first, then pivot and slide the legs inside. Do the reverse when getting off the vehicle.

    if your passenger is height-challenged,
    get a lower car.
the current stepboards in the market are simply too... narrow for user friendliness.
pinag-titiyagan lang talaga yan dahil no choice.
    heh heh.

Our previous car was a 2007 Fortuner. My wife had no problems with ingress and egress. I was thinking life would be better with the 2017 Innova. But it's not turning out that way. He he.. It seems the Fortuner had better step boards and hand holds. Oh well...

My parents (in their 70s) prefer the Innova. My dad is 5'11" and my mom, around 5'8" gets on and off the Innova with relative ease. FWIW, my mom is PWD and requires a wheelchair for mobility.

IMO, the Innova in its stock configuration is already too low to require a step board. If it did, it's got to be something very niche, like being able to get better access to a roof rack..
