    RE: CVT

If its an appliance car and you're gonna dispose it in 10 years, it doesn't matter.
Plus if you're an a-hole, you won't change the CVT fluid on time and pass the problem to the next owner.

Hello po. I will be going to Petron tomorrow for our 4th year PMS and I would like to ask on what I should let them do with our car. Unfortunately, I couldn't find our manual's book to know what should be included in the 4th year PMS. What engine oil should we use? Should we change the brake pads already? Should we change the air filter?

    Details about our car:
    Car: Innova 2020 E AT
    Distance travelled: ~16,000 kms
Last PMS: 2023 March 06 (done by Toyota)

    Thank you in advance

i have my basics done at your friendly petron hecho-derecho oil and oil filter change promo, every 5000 km. i use ordinary mineral oil.
i see the air filter if it is too dirty or oil-stained; if so, i have it replaced. kung medyo malinis pa, i have it air-cleaned. yes, some folks may dis-agree.
i have my brake pads examined and have them replaced if already too thin. the front pads usually wear out twice as fast as the rear ones. the brake pads are user-dependent and not time- or km-dependent. i use whatever the banawe mechanic recommends.

consult your owner's manual, po, for the more comprehensive pms items.

    Found the owner's manual.

Here's what to replace on the 4th year PMS:
    1. Engine Oil
    2. Engine Filter
    3. Brake fluid
    4. Rear Differential Oil

Do you know what engine oil to use? It says 0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30, and 10W-30.

The online manual floating around the web recommends 5W-30 for the EURO 4 2.8 1GD or 0W-20/5W-20/5W-30 for the Euro 4 Gas Engines. The recommendations though is made with winter weather starting in mind though so even 10W-30 should be okay to use as well.

Done with my change oil at Petron. 4,230 pesos for the 8L fully synthetic 5W-40. They told me that I don't have to change my brake fluid yet since the color is still clear. They also told me that the rear differential oil should be done by Toyota since newer Toyota cars have proprietary oil for it.

Additionally, they said that for the set of brake pads, it's going to be 1,500 pesos.

i didn't know differential oil can be... picky.
when my 2005 innova swam thru ondoy, i had its coffee-colored diff. oil changed at petron.

ball park figure, that brake pad pricing.

i haven't encountered it in my innovae.
but it sounds like a wire from the lock terminal may have gotten disconnected,
or, sira yung lock switch mismo.

opening the door liner and trouble-shooting the innards may be a bit messy, but it ain't that difficult.
    good luck.

Brake fluid is hygroscopic. It's advisable to change it every 2 years.
