For V, G, and Touring Sport variant owners out there, have you tried installing 2 additional rear parking sensors without changing the module? Like, just adding 2 sensors on the existing parking sensor module. I want to install 2 more sensors and place them onv the corners of the rear bumper just so th e whole bumper is within the reverse sensor coverage.

I called the dealer and they said it isn't possible, and that I must change the whole module including the existing sensors if I want to make it 4-eyes for a hefty price of 10K PhP. Then I asked if they are also body-colored since the OEM sensors are colored the same as the body color, and I was surprised by their answer that what they only have are black colored ones. This lead me to think that what they're selling as "genuine" parking sensors are just the same as the ones you can get from local car accessories shops. I don't like that, and it also made me doubt what they said about adding 2 more sensors to the existing 2-eye module is not possible.

Hope anyone with these variants or knowledge of this circumstance can pitch in some info. Thanks!

...isn't the entire bumper already covered by what you already have installed?
experiment using a solid object, and see where your sensor goes blind.

my second thoughts are, "what will these add-ons do?" will they actually function as desired, or are we simply assuming that they will do it?

manufacturers usually limit what the casas are allowed to do, to their cars. they may not stray too far from "stock".
you better choice, would be to have an outside shop do it.
but then, as gusot above says, "lagyan mo na lang ng cameras". that way, you will be able to maneuver the car to within inches of the offending object.

    good luck.

A backup camera will be a better option. And better still have a rear view mirror dashcam with front and back facing cameras.

Thanks for the suggestion. I already have a back-up camera installed. The problem is that the camera angle isn't wide enough that I won't be able to gauge properly the distance of an obstacle from the corner of my bumper. Hence, I thought of adding 2 more eyes that will br placed near the corners of the rear bumper.

Also, I looked at various Innova variants offered in other countries like Indonesia and they have 4-eye sensors installed instead of 2-eye. It made me think it's possible.

I've actually done an experiment already with the back-up camera and the existing 2-eye sensors. The "deadspot" for both the sensors and the camera is around 1 to 1.5 feet perpendicularly beyond my rear bumper starting from the corner. This poses a risk when something like a pole is positioned to the corner of my bumper when I'm backing up or, most especially, when I'm backing up diagonally from a wall or an obstacle at a certain angle.

Of course I can still my mirrors and I do know how to use them, but I won't be able to make use of all the space backing up when I'm maneuvering in a tight space since I can't gauge my distance.

I would've actually wanted it more if the 2 eyes were placed near the corners of the bumper since the center of the rear bumper is within the coverage of the camera anyway.

    Eitherway, thanks!

using a curved mirror at the rear of my vehicle, back when videos were not as widely available as today,
i could guide my parking to within a couple of inches of the obstruction.
