May 19th, 2009 05:39 PM #1Normal lang ba na mag-turn on yung engine (radiator) fan bago yung engine mismo? I mean, pag-pasok ng susi at pag-tunr to power the electronics, nag-on kaagad yung engine fan. Sa 2009 na VIOS ito.
Thanks.

May 19th, 2009 09:45 PM #2Unless your engine is already hot, no, it's not normal. Lalo na't bagong-bago pa sasakyan mo.

May 20th, 2009 08:05 AM #4I think I should rephrase.
Does it happen ALL the time? Even from a cold start?

once you start your engine from cold start hindi pa iikot ang auxiliary/engine fan pero pag on mo ng a/c automatic din mag on ang auxiliary fan. i noticed this sa sentra, kia rio and kia carens ko.
iikot lang ang auxiliary fan once your engine is running and had reach the operating temperature.
so i think hindi normal yan.Last edited by valskie01; May 20th, 2009 at 06:07 PM.

On my 97 Accord, pag higher than normal ang temperature ng makina (usually dahil kulang na sa coolant), umaandar na ang aux fan kahit nasa ON position pa lang ang susi. This also happens when I try to restart the car a few minutes after shutting the engine off. Umaandar pa rin ang aux fan.
I used to think it was weird, since tinanggal ko na ang susi at patay ang makina.
So I guess normal lang yan. Baka kasi may temp sensor din yung 2009 Vios.

May 21st, 2009 12:41 AM #10UPDATE:
I went to a Toyota dealership. Compared two VIOS. Got the engine running for a few minutes to reach a sufficiently hot temperature. Turned-off the engine, then half-start (electricals only). Presto! Nag-on din yung engine fan. Waited a few minutes without turning the engine on, then the fan stopped.
Conclusion? In short, it's normal. However, it begets further questions. Is the coolant not effective (remember this is a new car)? Is the engine running abnormally hot? I run it only for a few minutes in idle mode,.i.e, I'm not actually driving the car, just letting the engine run?
To eliminate any doubts, I'm just getting a Civic...
Will wonders never cease with Motolite? Ha ha.
Cheaper brands than Motolite but reliable as well
