To owners and users of LC 250 Prado, please share your experience thus far. Alam ko it is very difficult to get one and madaming mga offers that will set you back almost P500k in interests if financing plus accessories. I myself had to fork out for inflated insurance, tint, and Brila ceramic coating on top of the SRP. Let's just say it wasn't cheap. Apologies in advance, but I promise the dealer not to divulge anymore information.

Anyhow, how has your ride been? Did you read the manual inside out like I did?

Because this car has been my dream for 20 years, I personally enjoyed the car right off the bat. I personally washed the car for 2 months haha! Some reviews said that there are rattles inside the car and the ride is a bouncy. Some say that the 2.4L Turbo Engine feels lacking in power when the weight of the vehicle is taken into account. Some say that the space inside feels smaller than what you see outside. They are not wrong if you ask me. I personally believe the car's downshift is a bit rough. I feel the AC clutch activating under the driver's seat. So, is it still worth the price plus add-ons? Well, if you have saved up like I did for 20 years and have dreamed of this car for that long to own, then YES. It is a great vehicle if you like driving SUVs on-road like I do. I like feeling higher on-road.

Sadly, a great car still comes with great responsibility. I say responsibility because I encountered some issues 2 weeks into driving it after getting the OR/CR.

One issue I encountered is a static or alarm noise like the one we get on our cellphones. I had to shut off and restart the engine to stop it.

Another issue is using the charging port and wireless charging. I have a 70mai A500s dash cam plugged into the USB C port using an adapter USB A to USB C. Sometimes when I start the car, there would be this static noise that would get louder when you accelerate. SOunds like a whining alternator. For the wireless charging, I heard a knocking sound near the charging port after I charged my phone. I have to restart the engine to get rid of the sound.

The sound is similar to this post:

Car is in CASA now for PMS kahit 700 kms pa lang since owning it. First time din daw ni CASA to service an LC 250 Prado so they needed the car longer for observation.

Initial prognosis is some ground failure along the wires.

We'll keep you guys updated. Baka mayroon din sa mga owners or friends of owners who have heard of this.

    Keep on going!

The JBL audio/stereo is good no static.

Pangit lang daming soft black plastic.

May 2.4 L turbo variant pala ang LC250 prado?

    Hi glenn_duke,

Yes, all Local units come with 2.4L Gasoline Turbo Engine. Your variant may be LC250 Prado from abroad like Dubai? Walang diesel engine kasi sa local. They may bring in the Hybrid version daw.

I like the JBL option ng international units. The local units come only with standard Toyota OEM speakers with no brand name. Pwede na rin naman.

I got mine from down under. The JBL sounds is really good, what I dont like is the cargo compartment, medyo mataas, hirap mag akyat ng 20kg na luggage, pag binaba ang 3rd row seats, useless ang cargo space. Went crabbing last weekend, i need to pull a trailer to fit our gear, more spacious pa luggage compartment ng rav4. Just today the apple carplay is malfunctioning. Yung ADAS medyo late yung alerts especially sa blind sides.

Its a bummer kung walang diesel variant sa pinas, i dont know if there is a gray market for prado.

Mas marami pang cargo load ang Innova Zenix when the 3rd row seats are up.

Regarding your Apple Car Play: nabanggit ng service advisor na more and more owners of LC300 and even Alphard are coming to complain that they can't connect their Iphone 16 or Iphones with updated IOS (not sure what Iphone variant na it started). So, you're not the only pagdating sa issue na ito. Best to bring it up with Toyota there.

Sa ADAS, you can adjust the sensitivity of the alerts. Ako baligtad sa iyo, feeling ko naman sobrang sensitive. I have to turn off the rear parking brake assist lalu na when parallel parking.

I'm not sure if there's a correlation sa static noise when gadgets such as dash cams are plugged in then you start the car. The LC250 revs up when you start the car to automatically heat up the engine for a good 30-45 seconds (I will time this again to check). Kasi when I plug the dash cam after starting the car, then wala naman static noise.

By the way, since walang 12V cigarette lighter plus sa harap and only USB Type C ang ports, I have to use an adapter for USB A to USB C plug for the dash cam. I checked the manual naman is output is not more than 3A.

    Hi Dr.Kamiya,

Looks like it is coming from the head unit. This only happens when I leave the dash cam plugged in when starting or charging the phone via wireless.

CASA replicated the video with the sound I took and isolated the issue to the head unit by unplugging connected terminals for head unit and charging port. Nawala ang noise after unplugging the head unit daw.

PERO, since the LC250s are very limited in number pa in our country, it will take months to request a service unit to replace my head unit for observation. Then, once proven na head unit talaga ang issue, then that is the only time they will replace the head unit under warranty. Ito pala ang downside ng owning a limited variant.

For now, the static noise comes and goes. I just have to unplug the dash cam before turning off the engine and then plug in the dash cam after starting the engine.

We took the LC250 out for a drive kahapon and my youngest fell asleep sa 3rd row. Ang sabi: "I didn't know there are seats here!"

I finally got the video on youtube:

Wala pa rin feedback from the servicing dealer. I may try to contact Toyota Motor Philippines directly.

That sounds like a ground loop alright. Does it change in pitch/intensity along with engine revs?

My guess is inductance from the various accessories are feeding a ground loop current into the head unit.

The sound probably isn't coming from the electronics themselves (i.e. coil whine), but it's inducing noise in the HU. It goes away when the HU is disconnected because nothing is driving the speakers.

Exacerbated by the high degree of integration nowadays with the infotainment system. It's never truly "off" anymore.

Previous threads (admittedly not very helpful):

    Is this grounded sound system
    Static Sound Sa Speaker

This last one made some progress by playing around installing ground wires:

Amp Hiss (even when RCAs unplugged; disappears when sound is played)
