Looks like that the Avanza and Veloz will be two different models and offered side by side: https://www.autoindustriya.com/auto-...er-avanza.html

Featuring a ladder frame that’s welded together with the body and floor pan, the Avanza technically rides on a unibody chassis that offers good ground clearance and versatility.

marketing nonsense all unibody cars have u-shaped pieces spot-welded to the body which somewhat resembles a ladder

but it's not a ladder frame like on a pickup truck

to be fair... I personally haven't seen the Avanza

Pero for me to personally say that a vehicle has a "ladder frame," the suspension and drivetrain must be connected to the "ladder frame"

Avanza is unibody since introduction. The drivetrain layout only has changed from longitudinal engine RWD to a transverse engine FWD.

Here's the Daihatsu sibling, the Xenia. If Daihatsu is making a comeback to PH they should bring this too.

here's the avanza's u-shaped frame supports welded to the body to provide add'l strength where it's needed. the engine and suspension are bolted to them.

this is typical of monocoque cars. a honda city is built pretty much the same.

to say that a car has a ladder frame... it simply has to have one. i.e. a robust frame independent of the body
