February 19th, 2020 11:45 AM #31while the Hilux and Fortuner are due to receive facelifts in the near future ahead of switching to the next gen in 2023. Interestingly, the insider doesn’t exclude the possibility of a unified Hilux and Tacoma model, but he remains cautious.
Truck fans will want to know the next-generation Tundra will premiere in December 2021 for the 2022MY to inaugurate the TNGA-F platform. It’ll be equipped with a twin-turbo V6 hybrid for the range-topping model.

I would prefer the newer platform. It could probably get twin turbos on the 2.8L engine. 160-180kw and maybe 550-600nm maybe with their 10spd transmission. Though the reports say it will get the 6spd. Still that would be fun.
They really have to differentiate this against the land cruiser prado which has the same 2.8L engine....
Will toyota give this with 800-1000mm wading depth capability?... that would be pretty good.Last edited by StockEngine; March 27th, 2020 at 02:50 AM.

March 27th, 2020 04:34 AM #37On the one hand CVT, on the other, Toyota Land Cruiser.
So far ganda naman ng track record ni Toyota for Land Cruiser durability, I'm looking forward to seeing them buck the trend and show the world how to build a robust CVT.
Rumored power/torque figures seem to be for an N/A V6 hybrid, not turbo. If turbo for sure torque will be higher.

March 27th, 2020 01:19 PM #39Definitely it's for the hybrid.
I hope are developing a completely new engine for the diesel option. It would be very bad for image if the LC ends up with the same engine as the Hilux/Fortuner/Innova lol

Not just the engine. It's literally a D-Max with Mazda styling, but everything mechanical is Isuzu....
