December 1st, 2015 02:46 PM #1while they are quick in responding to the complaints. i can only be satisfied if they can fix the problem. as of now, no feed back yet since they conducted road testing 3 weeks ago.
initial diagnoses shows that the "takatak sounds is coming inside the transmission - maybe countergear issue daw". lets wait and see kung ano magiging final result.

December 2nd, 2015 03:25 PM #2just called the CASA for the update on this issue. sabi nila normal daw yong findings on all 4x4 with manual transmission. the sound is coming from the counter-gear pag naka neutral yong gear shifter. sabi nila, they are currently formulating a special gear oil (Mas malapot) for the transmission para daw mawala yong "takatak sound".
parang hindi ako satisfied sa sagot nila. but anyway, we will just wait for the special gear oil and see if the issue will be solve.

December 3rd, 2015 09:33 AM #4well, definitely a design defect to me based on my experience with other brand new and even second hand vehicles that i'd been using. wala naman ganon na sound except to this so called "all new hilux". so i will not accept that its a normal thing as they claim for now. but to give them due process, i'll wait for the new gear oil na sinasabi nila. otherwise, then we can just file a warranty claim / complaint at DTI. grabe ang lakas ng "takatak sound" sa ilalim sa rough roads lalo na pag medyo mabilis takbo mo.

update as of December 22, 2015:
A Technical Team from Toyota Motor Philippines just conducted a road test on my unit this morning to verify that their findings on the transmission issue on the other unit they tested a month ago is the same as mine. road test result was the same meaning the problem is the same.
no result yet from Toyota Japan on this issue. they expect to have the final result by january.
accordingly, its not only in the Philippines na lumabas yong issue but even in other countries. im just wondering why no complaints being filed by hilux owners in manila. only here in baguio ang marami na ang nakapuna sa problema. sabi taga toyota, its because the road terrain here is unique para marinig yong "takatak"sound. or baka naman karamihan sa mga owner ng new hilux dyan sa lowland are not actually using their pick up on poor road condition or off roading. i know at least 5 new hilux owners here in baguio who also have the same problem. even the service vehicle of toyota motor philippines has the same problem. in fact yong unit nila yong ginawang experimental vehicle na pinalitan yong gear oil ng mas malapot.
toyota philippines assured that they are doing their best to facilitate the resolution of the issue since they will be using the same transmission design on the upcoming fortuner and innova. unfortunately, the final action will still be done by the design center of Toyota Japan. sabi nila, kaya wala daw tunog sa naunang transmissions kasi mas maiksi yong counter gear nila as compared dito sa 6 speed transmissions na mas mahaba yong counter gear kung saan nagmumula yong tunog. in fact, pinakita pa sa akin yong illustration ng lamang loob ng transmission particularly the counter gear just to explain the cause and source of the annoying sound.
sabi nila, hindi naman daw delicado yong issue and the car is still safe to use or the safety issue is not compromised. i said yes but still their is a minor design flaw that needs to be fixed because i believe mas mabilis ang wear and tear pag ganon na palaging kumakalog yong counter gear. the good thing is that, sabi ng toyota, pag nagkaproblema yong transmission, which is the subject of the complaint, they will still be responsible na ayusin even the vehicle is already out of warranty. sayang nga lang at hindi ko na record yong conversation namin para atleast may proof na sinabi nila yon.
thats all for now and Merry Christmas to everyone. i'll keep you posted on this issue.

Hi Jerry,
I've read about your takatak sound with your hilux and the counter gear thingy.
Share ko lang - a few years back, actually about 20yrs ago, we had a passenger jeep. Engine is Isuzu 4BC2 with 5 speed Manual Tranny.
Isang gabi, pagkagaling sa pasada, sabi ng driver namin na may tumutunog sa ilalim na galling sa Tranny. Takatak Sound din. It may be different from what you have right now pero that was how we describe it.
We have it checked by a Mechanic and the theory was that a Counter Gear might have lost some teeth which is causing the sound.
Binaba ang transmission at binuksan. May bungi nga yong Counter Gear.
We looked for replacement in Bonifacio and Pasay but could not find the specific Counter Gear for our tranny. Pinalitan na lang yong buong tranny.
I remember nasa 10k ang surplus tranny non.
Di ko makalimutan yon. I was in College back then and was taking up Mechanical Eng'g.
I hope your Hilux does not have this defect. Good Luck

I am currently observing the 2SM battery installed on my MU-X, Yuasa brand. Kaka 1 yr lang nito...
Cheaper brands than Motolite but reliable as well
