just be aware of the disclaimer, "your unit may vary from what is shown here", sir. and when you do buy one, be clear with the dealer just what "accessories" (and/or their brands) come in the particular unit you are getting..

the one thing that irks me was the fraudulent advertising of toyota in its specs sheet sa wigo....it claims to have 4 set of speakers sa G variant but after removing the rear door sidings...lo and behold we got no speakers on the rear...thats why I cant hear any music sa rear seats i thought a wire was loose or something! complained sa SA via phone they said it was a misprint sa brochure...isnt that tantamount to misleading the customers...hope toyotas CRD had a good sleep tonight..theyll be hearing from me later :D

A smaller engine for the lighter Wigo. A bigger engine for the heavier Mirage.
I know curb weight, gross weight, power, torque by profession.
But of course this is on paper.

I hope someone can compare the apple to apple reality:
    1. Mirage CVT versus Wigo AT
    2. Same road incline. Example is MOA parking from 1st to 4th floor. Or Tagaytay Highlands from the SteakHouse up to its main gate.
    3. Five Adults (Pinoy mode eh) will ride both cars.
    4. Get a video cam and timer then see how long it takes to go up to the 4th floor or Highlands gate.

Then do another test of 0 to 100 kph along Macapagal. 2am to 4am.
Take video of the instrument panel just like what HeadLightMag.com does (a Thai sight) with Impreza, 86, BMW, acceleration test.
Haha... Now thats what I call a comparo Test!

But Honestly Having driven the Mirage a few times with a lot of load, and in its CVT guise , I'd say the 1.2 engine is the sweet spot for an all rounder car. The 1.0 li WIGO is livable, but remember the adage ... "You get what you pay for"...
If you're coming from a motorcycle or a first time owner, then by all means buy the WIGO if you can afford it. A car is safer/more comfortable than a motorcycle, or a jeepney or bus for that matter.

I just feel my money is well in a Mirage... I mean, in the GLX AT guise, you get a more powerful engine in a 5 speed CVT to boot.
You also get 5 years of warranty which is so great, more if your paying for the car via a bank loan for 4-5 years... well of course expect the aircon to have less warranty, so with the Battery (as industry standards).. but having the engine/tranny/suspension/sensors..etc. to be worry free for a first time owner....that says a lot, remember when we pay for a car, we pay also for the maintenance that comes with it.

As for the FC, well people can debate all day, but in this segment of cars, driver skills still rules. You just get more oomph in the 1.2 Mivec when you need it.... I'd rather have the power in tap for most occasions.

Just this weekend I rode shotgun going up to Tagayatay on a 1.0G WIGO, thn drove going down to Batangas... Drive was ok (4 of us... lunch at lesie's...Bulalo..) Ummmm.. still lacks power when I want it... I really have no confidence in trying to overtake on fast stretches of road going to Canyon Cove. But it will gring you to Canyon cove with no fuss....

On Handling, The rear is a little stiffer than the Mirage, but I'm not happy with the grip and cornering the 14's / tire combo (Dunlop) is giving me... Breaking power is OK, but a little on the nervous side when driven hard....

Comfort levels are great, I love the front seats... The one piece headrest is a novelty but surprisingly comfortable...my biggest gripe would have to be steering wheel, I cant tilt it down as its fixed... Note to buyers.. if you cant find your sweet spot in driving positions on small test drives...you wont find it on long drives.... AV unit is ok, but we didnt bring an Iphone/Ipod, so I dont know if it connects? But the stock speakers are horrible as expected in these segment cars.... good thing aftermarket pioneers are cheap.

    So my impression?

The 1.0 Liter E manual is a buy for buyers on a really tight budget
The 1.0 G Manual is also a buy for buyers wanting extra safety features ( who wouldnt say yes to safety?)
The 1.0G matic is a NO for buyers who've driven cars with more power and features.... why? hahanap hanapin mo eh...

    That said... "your money...your rules...right?"

I feel too small sa mirage or nanibago lang kasi I drive a mazda 3 sedan?

Sa wigo I still have to check it. May nakapagsabi po na medyo maingay engine ng wigo? And what's with champiro tires po?

Thanks pre for the nice drive report.

Was it the automatic or manual variant Wigo G that you brought to Canyon Cove?

One thing I worry about small cars is the cabin noise.
Was the Wigo as quiet inside as a Toyota Altis or Honda Civic?
Or it doesn't have enough insulation and you can hear the road rolling beneath you especially if it is bare concrete without asphalt overlay.

Oks lang maingay sa labas pero dapat sa cabin eh tahimik sana for that low volume senti music tripping.

    Its the 1.0G Matic.

Cabin space is ok, Generous at the back.
Engine shudder / noise when floored is loud.
Road noise is Ok to acceptable but no where near Civic quietness.
Tire noise is not that loud, this I think is because of the small width of the 14 in tires. However, I feel the dunlops are as slippery
as my old 18's dunlops...forgot the variant, but they do drive/ride the same.( I used to have them in my FD's 18's.)... I would have
preffered the Champiro's honestly, as I have better experiences using budget GT Champiro's (If I am not mistaken GT's uses technology borrowed from MICHELIN, as a trade agreement for supplying MICHELIN with rubber..Indonesia of course is no.2 in rubber production, but no.1 in available rubber reserves...sorry off topic)

Its been a while since I drove a car in 14's...(maybe 10 years na!)..so I can definitely feel the misses in cornering and road feel.

    the best yung bonus reason!

    1) First and foremost, it's a whole lot safer to ride in than a motorcycle

Sure, the Wigo is quite the diminutive car, and not the car that those with penile compensation issues will like. But if you want a city car that will make you feel like you ain't going to die with a single bump from another vehicle, the Wigo suffices. Measuring at just 3,600 millimeters long, 1,620 millimeters high, and 1,520 millimeters wide, it's even smaller than the Mirage. And you know what that means: It's easier to park in tight spaces!

    2) It's smarter than buying second-hand cars

Toyota's goal is to sell at least 500 units of the car model per month. That's a modest, realistic figure simply because the Wigo's entry price won't take your breath away at just P450,000 (1.0E MT). At such a low price point, you're surely going to have a hard time thinking of whether to buy a second-hand unit or a completely brand-spankin' new model for roughly the same price.

Price is always a big issue, and the Wigo might just have hit the sweet spot between practicality and desirability.

The midrange 1.0G MT costs P499,000 and the top-of-the-line 1.0G AT goes for P534,000.

    3) It has enough power for city driving

The Toyota Wigo won't set any speed records, and it doesn't intend to. With a 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder, 12-valve, fuel-injected gas engine that produces 65 horsepower and 85Nm at 3,600rpm, the Wigo is tuned just right for a no-frills daily driver who's more fond of just cruisin' than dartin'. As expected with an engine that small, fuel economy will be high, and is estimated to be at 12 to 14 kilometers per liter—just the way we like it especially with gas prices on the rise again.

    4) It is surprisingly roomy and feature-packed

We commend not just the headroom and the legroom the car provides but also the roominess of the trunk area. It's a small car but it can surprisingly haul a lot of stuff. It's also less dorky-looking than most cars of its type.

As for features, the top-of-the-line model has a boatload of extras that you'd appreciate, namely: front and rear power windows, door locks, power side mirrors, anti-theft/keyless entry system with engine immobilizer, dual airbags, and rear seats that can be folded down.

The top-of-the-line model even has a 4-speaker Navi-ready, 2-DIN touchscreen AM/FM/CD/MP3/Aux/USB audio system with iPod and video playback capabilities. The phrase small but terrible is an overused phrase, but in this case, it really applies for the cool, attractive Toyota Wigo.

    THIS IS THE BEST REASON!!!

BONUS REASON: John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo seem to really, really LOVE IT!
