Wigo is 100 Kg lighter than the Mirage. That's two sacks of rice lighter in favor of the Wigo.
The Mirage has a 1.2L engine because it is heavier.
Computing the power to weight ratio and torque to weight ratio the Wigo and Mirage is the same.
A smaller engine for the lighter Wigo. A bigger engine for the heavier Mirage.
I know curb weight, gross weight, power, torque by profession.
But of course this is on paper.
I hope someone can compare the apple to apple reality:
1. Mirage CVT versus Wigo AT
2. Same road incline. Example is MOA parking from 1st to 4th floor. Or Tagaytay Highlands from the SteakHouse up to its main gate.
3. Five Adults (Pinoy mode eh) will ride both cars.
4. Get a video cam and timer then see how long it takes to go up to the 4th floor or Highlands gate.
Then do another test of 0 to 100 kph along Macapagal. 2am to 4am.
Take video of the instrument panel just like what HeadLightMag.com does (a Thai sight) with Impreza, 86, BMW, acceleration test.

The quoted curb weight of the Wigo is 800 kg for the most basic variant. Expect the G with the auto to be heavier.
The Mirage GLX with a manual transmission weighs a mere 830 kilograms. It's the US variant with the CVT that is nearly 100 kg heavier than the Wigo.

Having driven both, there really isn't much of a comparison. The Mirage is hella faster. There isn't a supermini out there that's nearly as quick... the superminis with more power (the Picanto and Spark) are a whole lot heavier, and the 1.0s aren't anywhere near the same league. Lightness counts in first gear, but above 60 km/h, it's all about aerodynamics and power, and the Mirage is better in those regards than the Wigo.

February 28th, 2014 11:00 AM #216Hi All, been backreading this thread since yesterday. i'm planning to buy a brand new affordable car for myself (girl po ako). i've been driving my 2nd hand bought car for two years na which is mitsubishi galant '95. medyo masakit na sya sa ulo kaya im deciding to get a brand new na and i eyed for this one. yung automatic po. hindi po ako masyadong techie in terms sa kotse. simpleng drive lang alam ko. hehe.
questions ko po,
1. kapag 1.0 3 cylinder car po ba like wigo, hirap na tumakbo kapag puno ung sasakyan? like 5 passengers?
2. when u say good for city driving lang po it means na hindi maganda for out of town trips kasi hindi kakayanin?

2. city driving sya talaga and out of town is ok ok, as long as you drive it na hindi nagmamadali, mukhang ok naman sya, but mas stable kasi ang bigger cars. pero i doubt na ititirik ka sa daan ng Wigo.
3. Get quotes for 2-3 more Toyota casa and compare.

February 28th, 2014 11:55 AM #2181.para sakin mas ok yung term na,hindi kasing bilis ng may sakay ng 1 o 2 lang na tao ang may sakay na 5 or puno, but since the this car (Wigo) has 1.0L Engine don't expect that this would give you the speed that your galant 2.4L(if i'm not mistaken) has.
But I'm pretty sure that you will notice the fuel consumption difference between this and your current car.:D

Five people in the car, including myself and Dinzo Tabamo (neither of us lightweights) going uphill on the road from C5 to Shaw, absolutely no problem. Slow when overtaking (Wigo 1.0 automatic) but no problem.
We don't live in the bad old carbureted days where small cars would choke on a climb due to thin air and carb float issues. EFI rocks.

February 28th, 2014 12:47 PM #2201.
3. Wag po in house go directy sa mga banks then maraming casa look for the best deal( discount and freebies)
Been driving an i10 since last year kaso manual
