The Traffic Management Group (TMG) arrested over the weekend five car thieves while dismantling a stolen truck in San Miguel, Bulacan.
The TMG also placed under questioning a driver from Isabela for driving a stolen Toyota Revo in Quezon City.
TMG director Chief Superintendent Perfecto Palad said the arrests of the suspects – Kennedy Quizon, Rolando Marcelo, Orlando Carpio, Carlito Maca*hinay and Faul Flauta – is part of their intensified campaign to neutralize syndicates involving car thieves in the country.
“We stumbled upon this syndicate and we are now conducting follow-up operations to identify their mastermind and members,” said Palad, who presented the suspects yesterday at the TMG headquarters in Camp Crame.
Palad said an informant tipped them off that the suspects were already dismantling the truck at the shop owned by Quizon in Barangay Pulong Bayabas, San Miguel town last Saturday.
Elements of Task Force Limbas rushed to the area and arrested the suspects, who did not put up a fight.
The yellow-white truck, owned by Royal Class Trading based in Isabela, was stolen while unattended in Port Area, Manila last Sept. 2.
Quizon and Marcelo were from San Miguel town while Carpio, Macahinay and Flauta were from Barangay Tangos, in Navotas.
According to Palad, the five suspects were cooperating fully in their effort to get the mastermind and other members of the syndicate.
The five suspects were charged before the prosecutors office in Bulacan.
Meanwhile, joint elements of the TMG and the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) placed under investigation one Arthur Santos for driving a stolen Toyota Revo.
Palad said the vehicle owner, Angelita Bausa, of Barangay Bago Bantay, Quezon City was attending the funeral service of a relative when she saw her stolen Toyota Revo parked in Project 7 but already sporting a different license plate.
Bausa immediately coordinated with the TMG and QCPD, whose operatives invited Santos for questioning.
Palad said the Toyota Revo was forcibly taken from its owner in the vicinity of Virra Mall in Greenhills, San Juan City last June 6. – With Cecille Suerte Felipe

September 19th, 2007 08:50 AM #36Makikita naman ninyo yung trend especially here in QC - once meron matinding holdup (vicitm gets shot or something) or carjack. Just wait for a few days and the cops would do a dragnet and catch or kill offenders. On the offensive yung mga pulis parang napahiya sila ng mga offenders kaya liligpit sila tapos tatahimik ulit. Para sa akin dapat dirediretso na sila - they shouldn't wait for another crime to happen - just clean them all up. Parang sinabi ni Duterte - magingat kayo at kung bibigyan nyo kami ng konting dahilan eh mamatay talaga kayo
