January 29th, 2018 02:46 PM #763hello guys. got my wife's vitara last dec 21 from suzuki tarlac. medyo sinuwerte, kasi pangalawa kami sa pila, hindi nagustuhan ng unang buyer yung hindi 2 tone ( mono tone turquoise blue, pero glx model) kaya napunta sa amin. daily driver ni misis dito sa pangasinan.
by this time, nasa 1k km na natakbo nya, isang trip to baguio at clark via sctex, tplex.
FR:
-comfy seats (suede and leather, malambot)
-fc: pangasinan lang: 12.7, with baguio:9.5
-sana: may armrest, pwedeng irecline rear seat, more sound proofing.
question: may available na bang accessories locally? lalo na step sill? madaling magasgas pintura ng door step kasi palalim yung sa loob.
thanks!

January 29th, 2018 11:10 PM #764Thanks for the feedback, Ekik. Been thinking of getting the Vitara GL+ or the Ecosport Titanium (dealer was giving a big discount on the Ecosport so naglapit price).
I think the Vitara has better specs for the price and i like how it has better visibility than the Ecosport. As you said, maliwanag yung view. I didn't like the cabin noise though. Also, since this is made in Hungary, I'm wondering how long it'll take for parts to arrive here. Baka super tagal.
That said, I don't know where Ecosport is manufactured so it might take as long for parts to arrive.
I've been warned by a lot of friends about Ford having poor servicing but I haven't heard much about Suzuki's to know if they're any better.

January 30th, 2018 09:42 AM #766Your decision really boils down to what you need the car for and what you prioritize.
Allow me to speak as someone who owns a Vitara. I have friends who own the 3 and have ridden in them (first generation down to the current).
Driving experience really shines in Mazda cars, including the 3. My friends all have positive things to say about how the 3 handles on the road. The Vitara's steering is light thanks to electric power steering, but I don't think it compares to how it feels on the 3. My previous car was a Fiesta and I can say that the Fiesta's steering and handling are much better.
You'll want a Vitara if you need a vehicle with a higher stance. The ground clearance number might not match the Ecosport's, but I don't look at that and instead judge it based on how it reacts to Philippine roads. There's a rather high speed bump where I live, and my Fiesta's bottom got scraped a few times even at slow and diagonal approach. I've spoken to a Grab driver who uses a Vios and he knows this as well; he makes the effort to avoid that bump because it's also scraped the bottom of his car. If there's something similar where you live/pass by, you'll have issues scraping the 3's bottom. My Vitara doesn't have issues with the speed bump, even at a little speed.
Cabin room is much better on the Vitara. The 3's rear leg space is tight, and front passenger space isn't great as well. My wife has no complaints even when seated at the rear seat of the Vitara; she regularly complained about the rear seat on our previous Fiesta.
Spec-wise, I think you'll find much of the same between the two cars you mentioned. I think fuel economy is better on the Vitara, though. It is a light vehicle for its class, and the 3 has a bigger engine.
Yojin 3 is great for the 3 as gives you quality assurance. Suzuki's PMS schedule is every 5K or 4months; it's more similar to Toyota's. I think Suzuki Philippines has more dealers/service centers than Mazda PH, especially outside Metro Manila.

January 30th, 2018 09:54 AM #767FC figures:
10.7 km/L on 17kph average speed, using Caltex Silver (91 RON) and tires on 38 PSI. City driving.
Found out that my tires were at 42 PSI when I drove them out of the dealer, so I went down to 38. I'll set them further down to the recommended 35 and will see what effect it will have on fuel economy.
10.7 km/L isn't bad, though, given that I found myself in stop-and-go traffic more than I did during the last FC figure I posted.

January 30th, 2018 05:29 PM #770I would say it's not the best in its class, but it's good enough. There's some wheel noise, but maybe it's the stock Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 tires (I'm thinking of investing in some wheel well noise suppression down the line). There's also some A-pillar noise as noted in local car features on the Vitara, but nothing significant. It handles the usual imperfections of Philippine roads rather well, at least better than the smaller cars I've driven/ridden in before.
For a 7-seater under 1 million, the Suzuki Ertiga is definitely one of the best options — it’s...
