May 28th, 2016 04:24 AM #2Which Suspension shop are uou referring? They are obviously taking you for a ride, there's no need or no hydraulics for a stabizer link, just a pair of links with some rubber bushings. Now if htey are referring to shock absorvber due to worn out struts Orings, spare yourself from trouble. In my experience these things are better replaced than repaired. it's a hit or miss thing, sometimes shocks tends to be too hard and you'll suffer a stiff rides, and most of the time it leaks again eventually. Shocks struts/shaft also wear out and even with a new O-ring will still seeps out the hydraulic oil.

Stabilizer links are quite small parts, they can't be repaired, refilled nor repacked. Better to replace the damaged shocks, it will cost less in the long run. Repairing or repacking a shock won't last that long and won't perform well either.

Having experienced suspension problems in my 12 year-old car, I can say that replacement parts are still better than just having them repacked.
I had front suspension rattles before, and it turned out that it was the repaired stab links that were the culprit. These were orig stab links, but still they broke down. I replaced the stab links with 555 replacements, no more noise.

I've seen enough Cruven vs Zee threads that the general consensus is that repacking suspension parts work.... for a while.
If you have a classic, rare or an old car with no spare parts available locally, repacking the OEM parts makes sense. But if your car is current and/or has sufficient genuine or replacement parts available, choose new instead.Last edited by oj88; May 28th, 2016 at 02:28 PM.
