April 18th, 2008 06:59 AM #1guys, my steering is making some squeaking noise everytime na pnihit sya nang sagad (left or right) or not even that sagad. I had it checked, hinigpitan ang PS belt but still the squeaking noise is still there lalo na pag sagad ang liko and when not power assisted (pag di nag momove ang car).
tiningnan ko rin ung belt pag nililiko nang sagad, parang naiiwan sya at hindi kumakagat dun sa crank.....is this due for replacement? mahigpit na ung ginawa nung mekanik eh......
thanks!

Heto ang gawin ninyo.
Check power steering fluid, bring it to proper level.
Check power steering belt tension at least 1/2 play when you push it down w/ your finger on the middle. Do not over tighten the belt it could damage your pump.
Bleed your power steering by turning lock to lock your steering w/ your engine idling left to right until that squeeking sounds gone. While doing this constantly cheking your fluid for proper level, add if necessary. good luck boys.

ganyan din problema ng corolla ko
yung unang mechanic sabi yung hose. pinalitan nya ng hose..
yung 2nd mechanic sabi belt. hinigpitan belt.
yung 3rd mechanic sabi power steering pump. pinaayos ko with new kit.no parin naaalis yang sound na yan!
ano pa ba pwede paghinalaan?
anyway, thanks to v6dreamer for that tip. i'll try the bleeding thing until my nose bleeds.. hehe.. thanks bro.

V6dreamer is right on the money.
However, sometimes if the belt is really old, the rubber will become slippery. When I was doing vacuum pumps for belt driven units we had to sand the belt surface of the pulley in order to get more bite out of them. Sand them perpendicular to the orientation of the belts, to make some teeth out of the pulley. When in doubt replace the belts with new ones, clean the pulley surfaces, follow V6dreamer's advice and replenish the fluid. If your P/S system has a tensioner it might also be due for replacement if it's not putting enough tension on the belts. Then tighten the belts to spec, overtightening will destroy the bearings.

try these things if it will work
1. kung luma na ang belt replace it with new one (minsan ang belt kapag manipis na it produced squeezing sound sa pulley)
2. tighten the belt (tamang higpit lang)
3. pour PS fluid at max level
