August 19th, 2009 11:21 PM #231Hi,
I'll be "taking over" (sort of) a Subaru hatchback (Impreza din yun di ba) in a few months' time. Bale parang hand-me-down ito since the one who's now using it is my brother and he and his family is scheduled to leave the country for (hopefully) greener pastures overseas..
What should I expect of this? Initially, I find the car (at least my perception or speculation ) hard to maintain - limited lang mabibilhan ng pyesa? mahal ang pyesa? I am thinking na nga of selling and switching to some more mainstream units... but I came across an article around here na mas matagal ang buhay ng mga pyesa ng Subaru... totoo nga ba?
I tried surfing sa subaruph.. but parang ang konti ng mga posts... at least not like the fordclubph....

August 20th, 2009 12:02 PM #236Vince, I've logged on 9k on my 2.0R. Here are my observations:
1. Have no problems whatsoever with this.
2. I thought that this was a problem with my car, too, although I've noticed this on most cars that I drive (especially more apparent if there's no passenger). The reasons are likely because I'm a big guy (190 lbs, 6'), or the uneven grade of the roads here in the Philippines.
3. The slight shifting jerk also happens with my car; not all the time though. I've observed that it happens more often when I don't step on the gas immediately after taking my foot off the brake pedal. Could you please observe yours if this is also the case?

August 21st, 2009 06:17 PM #237Hi,
I just bought the WRX STI. I'm also experiencing the same probelem as yours. (the steering and all) The worst is that when I reached 300 kms. the I cannot feel the turbo charged engine. Maybe I will just send the car to MI and have it fixed. However, with such price, I think it is not worth it to have such problems.
Also, when I received the car it has some scratches. (as in buong body ng car) When I brought it to MI they said they can fix it.
Thanks.

For Item 2: It couldn't about my weight (I'm only 160 pounds) nor the road conditions here. I don't even have the same problem from my other car. I should bring it in this week. Haven't had time as I've been traveling and just got back in Manila. In fact it only has less that 500kms.
For Item 3: This is how mine does it. Just imagine prepping for a stoplight. You apply the brakes slowly until you reach a full stop (don't put it to neutral btw) and say, maybe you want to move a little forward where you are so you release the brakes a little bit. This is where the jerking movement occurs so your instinct is to apply the brakes but once you release the brakes, the car moves normal as it should be without the jerk.
Will observe my car by applying the gas immediately once I release the brakes. Will also try it slowly like what you have explained. Will tell you about it tomorrow.

At least whoever you spoke to had an answer. The dude I talked over the phone couldn't figure out the problem as it was his 1st time to hear such a thing. Did you mean use the SportShift feature? How long did it take before it elimanated the problem? How many miles have you clocked in so far? Mine has less than 500kms. Thanks for the help.

August 25th, 2009 01:38 AM #240So true. With the price we've paid especially yours, they should've made sure the cars were wheel aligned. Such an inconvenience especially that they only have 1 shop. Worse thing, they will have to bring the car somewhere else to have it aligned. Yes, they don't have the equipment within their site.
Scratches and the turbo charged engine doesn't work?! Man, they better do something about that. That's no excuse for MI.
I feel the same way. Not a fan.
