April 8th, 2011 02:59 PM #811Subaru has updated the Forester but instead of giving it just a simple facelift, the Japanese carmaker has done something drastic by replacing the engine with an all-new one.
Replacing the old "EJ" series engine, specifically in the 2.0-liter XS variant Forester is the all-new "FB" series--Subaru's first all-new engine in over 20 years. The new engine features an entirely new basic structure while still exhibiting the unique advantages of Subaru's renowned horizontally-opposed boxer engine layout like its light weight, compact size and low center of gravity.
Benefits given by the all-new engine include a 10-percent increase in fuel efficiency and an improvement in the car's driving performance through smooth acceleration in all speed ranges.

To those wondering, the 2.0 engine is an new generation engine. as in it's all new. oddly though, it just happens to produce around the same numbers for bhp and torque. But according to Subaru anyway, it's all-new.
and MIGCIL, have you tried driving the Captiva? I test drove the diesel and was very underwhelmed by the engine. and the interior was such a huge disappointment for something in that price range. I hope that didn't just offend anyone. I'm just stating an honest and humble opinion. :D

i actually like the captiva but because it's a chevy i stayed away from it. chevy just gives such a bad service, i went there to ask for a quote and took them 2 weeks to give me a quote. parang gusto nila ako pa ang mag habol sa kanila.
the asx naman if you came from a fort it might feel real small but the features and performance of that car is actually pretty good.

I asked the SA at MIAS, kung same FC ang 2.0, he told me, same pa rin daw, kala ko naman mas titipid na siya. aside from the external changes, nawala na rin yung tweeter and sub woofer ng stereo sa 2.0, which I think is kind of a rip-off, ayun nga yung isa sa masaya sa forester pag dinadrive mo e, as in nararamdaman mo na yung bass ng music from your seat. he also told me that there was a 10k difference from the old stocks na meron pa rin naman daw. so siguro preference ng bibili ngayon ng 2.0 ay kung pipiliin niya yung external enhancements plus the different engine with the same FC vs the old one.
The 12-month warranty on the factory battery ended a few days ago. SOH is still good at over 90%,...
Cheaper brands than Motolite but reliable as well
