I had all brake pads replaced earlier with Akebono pads. I didn't realize until I got home that makapal pa pala yung mga front brake pads. They were around 6mm to 8mm pa. I don't know why hindi ko chineck yung actual thickness but I guess it's because I have all the pads with me na kasi before I went to the auto shop, so nakaset na yung mind ko na palitan lahat. The mechanic told me verbally na makapal pa yung fronts but I decided to push thru with replacing them anyway. I should've known better.

Yung rear pads naman may 6mm pa pero yung iba nasa 3mm na lang so they're really due for replacement na. No issues there.

My question is, can I still sell the front pads as used brake pads anywhere?

Yes. As long as there is someone who wnats to buy something a bit cheaper, yes you may find a willing buyer.

Ok. What are your thoughts on brake pad thickness? Are you a fan of the "replace when at 3mm thickness" practice?

there are many people who may not be aware of minimal thickness safety requirement. they simply eyeball the pad thickness and decide.
there are also people who are aware, but don't care.

and i believe there is still an industry that re-pads worn pads...

My take is if its near the wear indicator by 1mm, then replace. I don't wait for the metal warning indicator to touch the brake disc but I don't replace it early. Sayang eh. Visual check naman during PMS is easily done.

my heir heard the squealing sound, but thought nothing of it and kept merrily driving...
one day, he came over to drive me, and i heard the sound...
we had to re-face the rotor!
it is one thing to read about these things, but experiencing it... truly imprints an indelible statement into one's mindset.
    ignorance truly is not cheap.

My take, have it inspected every time you do an oil change.... which could be every 6 months to a year.

It's not about "being a fan" of it.... replacing it when it's down to 3-4mm is a good idea because not all brake pads wear evenly. For example, inside vs outside pads can wear at different rates. Likewise, pads may have a slanted wear pattern, where one side of the same pad is wearing faster than the opposite side (ie. due to a stuck caliper piston on one side, etc.). The 3-4mm is enough buffer to prevent metal-on-rotor contact under most conditions.

Personally, I’d say don’t wait until 3mm, better safe than sorry. Brake pads wear unevenly, and ignoring it could cost more than just a replacement.
