September 20th, 2019 01:58 PM #1Am planning to get an XV pretty soon and just to confirm, the current model they're selling doesn't include CarPlay? I'm hearing conflicting reports whether it's included or not... a friend got his last year and it has CarPlay, and I'm hearing the ones they're selling now (still the same model) doesn't include it. Can anyone clarify?

September 20th, 2019 02:01 PM #2i am curious.
pardon my ignorance, but... is the presence or absence of CarPlay, a deciding factor in purchasing a particular car model?
can't this be acquired after-market?

September 20th, 2019 03:22 PM #3For me, it's a pretty big thing considering I'm choosing between an HR-V or the XV. Technically it can be added as an aftermarket item but I'd prefer not to go that route due to additional costs (XV's already more expensive vs HR-V), warranty issues, and not sure if the aftermarket unit will be fully compatible with the steering wheel controls, HUD etc.
It's 2019 and I still can't believe cars at this level don't include Android Auto / CarPlay as standard features.

It's a nice-to-have Doc. I don't have to use a phone mount anymore since Waze is displayed on the HU already. Our XV's HU came with it. Mazda just recently released an Android Auto/Apple Carplay upgrade kit worth 19k for my Mazda 3 and because of our experience with the XV I'm having that upgraded as well.

Yes, but it's expensive after-market. And usually head units today have other integrated functions like climate control, tire pressure monitoring, vehicle settings, etc.
Android Auto is a great forward leap in tech and I prefer it vs having your phone on a holder on your dashboard.

October 24th, 2019 07:03 AM #92019 Forester Non Eyesight model here, I enquired about the headunit upgrade option (the same one that comes with impreza) I was confirmed that headunit upgrade is now avaiable for php 10000 including labour and warranty. Plus they return your old stock headunit as well. It is the HK unit sold in NA region i presume. Nice way to upgrade with out having to bother about integration issues. Plus you get Subaru starlink access as well along with Android Auto and Apple Car play compatibility.
