April 11th, 2013 10:32 PM #221Ulysses mentioned that he can easily do 10km/l on the highway with his old forester xt 2.5 and that the 2014 model has better fuel economy than the outgoing one. However it seems it's hard to achieve this din, and based on your personal experience sir, it looks like it is worse pa. I believe you are using Petron Blaze or XCS as much as possible right?

April 12th, 2013 09:42 AM #225Yes, i have read your previous posts and i also do the same computation for my FC on our cars. (Full tank until auto stop, use the vehicle then full up again until auto stop). I am interested in the forester kaya i always read this thread. My usual route is 90% SLEX, so i guess pwede na din siguro sya consider. Ipon mode muna. Please keep us posted on your FC pag more than 5,000kms na tinakbo

April 12th, 2013 10:23 AM #226Saw this Subaru Forester review from Manila Bulletin by Iņigo Roces.
"The factory fresh cars clocked up an impressive 1,200 kilometers by the trip’s end, all done with just two full tanks. Naturally, the XT consumed a tad more fuel with an average of around 8.5 km/L against the 2.0i’s 9.5 km/L. Both are a big improvement from the predecessors’ 6 and 7 km/L respectively." - A better estimate of real world consumption in mix city and motorway use!

April 12th, 2013 10:40 PM #230I heard it will arrive by next week. I ended up downloading the owner's manual PDF (divided into multiple files) from the Subaru USA site.
BTW do not click on the "Memory" switch for the rear trunk door. It will not fully open/close the trunk. The PDF manual has a piss poor translation of what that feature does. Japanese Engrish... >_<
The published fuel economy is based on a US govt study mandated by law. Same with the safety ratings.
Anyhow if you can afford a performance car like a Subaru then fuel consumption isnt on the top of your list. lol
AFAIK Petron Blaze is ethanol-free. For the first few weeks of ownership the XT was being fueled up with 100 RON fuel. Since getting the PDF I've been loading it with P1000 XCS + P1,500 Blaze to get 98+ RON as recommended. Minimum RON requirement is 95 but at reduced performance.
Next question....
Is there a switch to improve the ride quality of the XT? I drove from Los Banos to Muntinlupa and I felt like I went through a rolling pin.
Fuel economy improved to 12.6L/100KM though I let the car idle/parked about 10min with full AC and got about 42L/km.
Don't think about other brands anymore, just go with Amaron. It lasts minimum 5 yrs+ parati, I just...
Cheaper brands than Motolite but reliable as well
