for reference, my previous car is a 2.0 2006 civic paddleshift, already had 105,000kms on it. driving the same route i take, quezon-manila-quezon, usually mga 280kms yung total sa isang trip, i do about 9to10km/L with mashing the throttle. pag city driving within quezon, mga 6.5to7.5km/L. on the XT using the same route, mga 6to6.5km/L hiway, sa city 5to5.5km/L
Ulysses mentioned that he can easily do 10km/l on the highway with his old forester xt 2.5 and that the 2014 model has better fuel economy than the outgoing one. However it seems it's hard to achieve this din, and based on your personal experience sir, it looks like it is worse pa. I believe you are using Petron Blaze or XCS as much as possible right?

yup, i only loaded blaze on intial fill up, 54 liters, after that, XCS na lahat. the XT require 95ron minimum, otherwise it might knock the engine.

is the shell v-power nittro 95ron? is it also blended with ethanol?

Isn't it that Uly on has an N/A? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm doing better FC than my 08WRX which has the same engine as the FXT.

    Local 08 WRX 2.5l
    2014 FXT 2.0l
They do not have the same engine displacement. The new FXT is a 2.0 with DI and a CVT thus the better FC.

Yes, i have read your previous posts and i also do the same computation for my FC on our cars. (Full tank until auto stop, use the vehicle then full up again until auto stop). I am interested in the forester kaya i always read this thread. My usual route is 90% SLEX, so i guess pwede na din siguro sya consider. Ipon mode muna. Please keep us posted on your FC pag more than 5,000kms na tinakbo

Saw this Subaru Forester review from Manila Bulletin by Iņigo Roces.

"The factory fresh cars clocked up an impressive 1,200 kilometers by the trip’s end, all done with just two full tanks. Naturally, the XT consumed a tad more fuel with an average of around 8.5 km/L against the 2.0i’s 9.5 km/L. Both are a big improvement from the predecessors’ 6 and 7 km/L respectively." - A better estimate of real world consumption in mix city and motorway use!

I'm not really sure sir but I think v-power is not ethanol free. From my understanding only Blaze is ethanol free.

now that's more inline of what im getting, coz going to sagada is more hiway driving, i think 8.5km/L is achievable via trip computer, i was able to get 8.77km/L for 153kms on my first full tank, very light foot no overtaking

Sad to say, I agree with you, we just can't look at manufacturer fuel consumption estimates since they're mostly based in foreign countries where conditions are better. I read from some thread here as well that our fuel with bioethanol actually makes fuel consumption worse.
I heard it will arrive by next week. I ended up downloading the owner's manual PDF (divided into multiple files) from the Subaru USA site.

BTW do not click on the "Memory" switch for the rear trunk door. It will not fully open/close the trunk. The PDF manual has a piss poor translation of what that feature does. Japanese Engrish... >_<

The published fuel economy is based on a US govt study mandated by law. Same with the safety ratings.

Anyhow if you can afford a performance car like a Subaru then fuel consumption isnt on the top of your list. lol

AFAIK Petron Blaze is ethanol-free. For the first few weeks of ownership the XT was being fueled up with 100 RON fuel. Since getting the PDF I've been loading it with P1000 XCS + P1,500 Blaze to get 98+ RON as recommended. Minimum RON requirement is 95 but at reduced performance.

    Next question....

Is there a switch to improve the ride quality of the XT? I drove from Los Banos to Muntinlupa and I felt like I went through a rolling pin.

Fuel economy improved to 12.6L/100KM though I let the car idle/parked about 10min with full AC and got about 42L/km.
