April 11th, 2013 10:24 AM #211Sir MI didn't provide an owner's manual when you purchased the car? Lahat ba ng units wala?
Sad to say, I agree with you, we just can't look at manufacturer fuel consumption estimates since they're mostly based in foreign countries where conditions are better. I read from some thread here as well that our fuel with bioethanol actually makes fuel consumption worse.

April 11th, 2013 12:35 PM #213don't really know sir. I just read it from one of the fuel discussion threads here in tsikot.
I'm thinking if traffic/road condition is really bad here, then it would mostly affect your fuel economy for city driving. However, based on your findings and tests, even on highway driving, you are just getting around 7km/l. I think our highways here in general are pretty good already, smooth wide open roads, like NLEX. So if you are still getting low fuel mileage, then maybe there are other reasons too. So I'm just speculating that maybe one of that could be the fuel here.
Also read an article about Mazda 6 where it says they aren't bringing the Skyactiv Diesel variant here because they have a strict policy on fuel quality. Whether they meant fuel quality here is bad or not up to international standards, that I do not know
Sadly, Berjaya Auto Philippines can't bring in the SKYACTIV-D (diesel) engine yet, because Mazda has a strict policy on fuel quality.

April 11th, 2013 06:29 PM #215I read it somewhere on some subaru forum or blog that fuel consumption gets better after the first 3000kms. I dont know if this is because the car really adjusted or if the drivers arent just flooring it as often anymore. Try using intelligent mode only for the next 3 re-fills see if that has any effect.

April 11th, 2013 08:23 PM #216A review by our local automotive journalist, Ulysses Ang on Carguide PH. He stated some impressive FC for both NA and XT version, and it was done on local roads.
************ - Philippine Car News, Test Drives, and Prices: The Epic Journey: Driving the 2013 Subaru Forester to Sagada
2.0i-L = 15km/L
2.0XT = 13km/L ( 7km/L if you have a heavy foot ).
I wonder how he was able to achieve these FC.

April 11th, 2013 09:01 PM #217I have read this review several times as I am keenly looking at the forester. In this review, he stated that these mileage are attained during motorway drives. The fresh (<2000 km) unit I have test driven at MI has an average consumption of ~20l/100 km (5 km/l) note that this is a test drive unit and only does less than 5 km per run, so expect the fuel mileage to be low, unless it was driven somewhere else. Add to this, test drive units are pushed hard when test drivers sees an opportunity (I certainly did, even if it was just for a few seconds).

yeah iv read that on the day it was posted, kaya mas na-excite ako makuha na yung XT ko, pero di pala ganun katipid heheif you've backread, iv said that you can achieve this only through SLEX, NLEX, SCTEX where you can go 100kph constantly for 1hour or so, much better if you use the cruise control. BUT, when we go to our destination, hindi lang naman palaging expressway e, you have to go in and out of cities where you intend to go, you use city streets, you use national hiway, me bus titigil para magbaba ng pasahero and u have to slow down. so in REAL world mostly hiway driving, i dont think you can achieve 13km/L, this is coming from an XT owner. and i don't mash the accelerator or spool the turbo that much, yung tamang pang overtake lang pag kelangan.
for reference, my previous car is a 2.0 2006 civic paddleshift, already had 105,000kms on it. driving the same route i take, quezon-manila-quezon, usually mga 280kms yung total sa isang trip, i do about 9to10km/L with mashing the throttle. pag city driving within quezon, mga 6.5to7.5km/L. on the XT using the same route, mga 6to6.5km/L hiway, sa city 5to5.5km/L

Could also be due to the high demand that the manufacturer prioritized new car deliveries vs. spare...
