August 28th, 2019 03:43 PM #1083Hey guys, i think i went a little too excited and may have stepped a little too much on the gas on my FXT while still in break in. Noticed a burnt rubber/asbestos kind of smell from the engine bay afterwards nung nakapark nako (engine still on), then gradually nawala rin. Is this normal?

August 28th, 2019 04:12 PM #1085Thanks sir. By the way, any tips for break in? Its long been debated whether to push it hard or to baby the engine prior to manufacturer set number in the odo, for the FXT ive been informed that its 1600KM. In my older NA cars, drive it like you stole it seemed to do the trick, but for the FXT mejo alangan ako since Im quite new to direct injection and turbocharged engines.

Just no redline revs on the tachometer and you'll be fine. Doing 1000km for the break-in period is enough.
After that, bring the FXT on open roads for a spirited run. I suggest to do it on the stretch of open road from of SCTEX from NLEX to Dinalupihan but be mindful of parked Innovas or Rangers or Hilux as they may be spotters with speed radar guns. If you intend to do faster than 150kmh, put the car in Sport# mode. From 150kmh or below, Sport mode is enough. The FXT can easily get past 200kmh on an open road.

Hi Guys, stupid question. For a Forester that is barely more than 4 years old, what could be the major cause/use for it to be advised to undergo a Major Engine Overhaul? TIA
Will wonders never cease with Motolite? Ha ha.
Cheaper brands than Motolite but reliable as well
