Hi I am new here at tsikot and is canvassing for a good 4x4 suv. I am hoping if any of you can share your experiences in driving rexton suv. I am having a hard time deciding whether I would buy it because of its luxurious amenities versus the fact that it is a korean suv. My other options are fortuner and everest.

    Thanks alot

If you want a Korean car, get a SantaFe CRDi VGT instead or KIA Sorento VGT.

The Rexton's exterior design is kind of out of this world. It lacks coordination and fluidity. Interior and features are superb though.

It's an acquired tasted. It's a premium truck-based SUV. If you really like it, then why not.

The engine and tranny are from the Mercedes Benz M-Class.

Personally, I probably won't get it due to the price alone. The Fortuner and Everest are not in the same class as the Rexton (both are near-entry level SUV's of their respective brands) so the comparison is not really even. The Rexton is Ssangyong's flagship SUV much like the Veracruz is for Hyundai and the Sorento is for Kia.

Check out the Santa Fe CRDi 4x4. I think this is a better option if you want a korean SUV.

thanks for your replies. But the cost is secondary, since i was told that the price can still be negotiated. My worry is would it perform well, considering its price. I don't intend to resell it anyway, in fact i am thinking this would be my last suv so i am not too worried about resale values. Anyone of you have driven rexton? and what are your comments. Thanks

Haven't driven a Rexton yet. Would rather plunk my dough on a Santa Fe tho.
