Apparently Standard is not that sturdy anymore. The fan that I bought 6 yrs ago already has delay when I turn it on. I'm not sure how much longer this fan will last.

I am thinking of buying a Union Fan just because I like the design. It looks like a flower.

The delay could be from a dry motor. The bearing needs lubrication.

Sluggish motors that is not due to lubrication-related or mechanical issues is commonly caused by a dead or defective run capacitor. These are cheap and can be easily replaced. I've replaced these on at least a dozen electric motors (fans, exhaust fans, water pumps).

And oh, we also have a Vornado air circulator which I bought last year. Helps circulate air around the house.

How cheap is cheap? A new costs more or less P1k kasi. When I turn it on using the low setting it sometimes takes 30 secs to run. But if I use high it turns on agad

you can easily revive a dying fan.
simply have the rotating part of the motor and/or its bushings, replaced.
    it's cheap.

Again, if it's not a mechanical problem (lubrication, bushing, crud build-up, etc.), a sluggish fan is caused by a defective run capacitor. For desk fans, stand fans, or residential exhaust fans, depending on where you get the part, the capacitor costs P30 to maybe P50 each.

Just bring it in to your nearest electric fan repair shop (you usually can tell by the dozens of fan blades on display). If you try turning the blade with your hand (with the power turned off) and it doesn't rotate freely then tell the repair guy the bushing might need replacing. If it rotates freely yet when you turn it on the blade rotates slowly, then tell him it might be the capacitor.

If the repair guy thinks you know how electric fans work, the less na tatagain ka sa presyo ng singil.

Worst case sa electric fan is kelangang i-rewind ang motor.

In any case, ask for an estimate first then compare it with how much a brand new electric fan costs.
