"the right tool for the right job."
match your choice of aircon, with your room's conditions.
we can all imagine just how (un-) cool the room can be, if it is serviced by an under-powered aircon.

Splits? Daikin>Panasonic, hands down, sir. With any brand, just make sure you've the install done right & periodic maintenance attended to religiously....like cars, helps extend service life.

    in my opinion,
aircons in residences fare better than aircons in places of business or commerce,
simply because they are cared for less in the latter, where some folks just do not care for them the way home owners care for them.
    opinion lang.

Right! One example is in a faculty room where the teachers are complaining that the said unit is no longer cooling the room unlike before. I asked my wife if the air filter is being cleaned every week and she said no.

    in our case,
the aircon wouldn't cool well no more.
when we opened it to clean the filter...
    "where's the filter!"
we were faced with a filter-less set of dirt-clogged heat exchange fins...

This is understandable, just like with audio system. You'll often hear brands like JBL, Bose, etc. but not the brands favored by enthusiasts.

Hitachi is also a "common brand" in hotels, and in other establishments as mentioned by *Gumusut_Amige.

As what *travajante have said, whatever brand you choose, just make sure proper maintenance is done and have an oversized drain. I've seen a few units where an annoying leak is caused by a clogged drain pipe.

my colleague had her pipes buried in the wall.
    when it started giving problems,
she had to bakbak the wall.

i have seen some examples, where an aquarium pump-like gadget, would pump the drain water out...
i am wondering, isn't this a design waiting to malfunction?

You naughty boy! Now, I couldn't remove the thought...

Tilting, then yawing and pitching, sometimes rolling, and pounding finally! Such merchant vessels are wonderful works of men.
