There is caveat however if you gonna buy lowly brands such as Devant.

If you use it for blueray players, or high-end game consoles or even super high definition cable TV, I cannot recommend it, so it’s best you buy 50” Sony tvs at the price of P50k or 65” at the price of P65k, or P1k per inch

But i dont do any of that stuff, so Im somewhat free of those requirements and high standards. Quite liberating I suppose.

We dont even have cable tv subscriptions at home nor a blueray or game cabinet. it follows our mantra, fit at the body, minimalist at home. We dont even watch local ABS-CBN or GMA but the the Devants are ISBT Digital TV ready.

So i cant really recommend these to power users or should I say power viewers.

This TCL Android is our 1st Chinese....no different from the Sony Android it replaced.

Currently, the best bang-for-the-buck brand is TCL, who have now overtaken Vizio in the US in the low- to mid-range segment. Reviews have also been solid both in the US and in Europe.

For a budget of 30-39k, the best choice right now would be the 65" TCL A8US (known as P8M, P8US, or P660 in other markets).

It has 4K HDR, micro-dimming, AndroidTV, and a proc+GPU which is fast enough to run any 4K file out there. Colors are consistent (not oversaturated), with HDR performance and black levels as good as, but in many cases, better than, comparable Samsung, LG, and Sony models from the 40-49k price range.

Meanwhile, for the 20-30k price range, the 55" Sony X7007 4K TV would be the best. It's listed at ₱29,900 cash on Carousell (there's a guy there who's an Anson's reseller). This model would be followed closely by the 55" TCL P8S, which has a superior panel to the Sony but does not have the same "dating", which many pinoys need as their TV's are often in the living room and seen by guests. Both run on Android.


For OLEDs (the creme-de-la-creme of TV's), the best value right now is the 55" Panasonic GZ1000, which can be had at ₱79,990 on Carousell. Picture quality is much better than the Sony and LG OLED's which are ₱20k higher in price (55" size).


Stay away from Devant, Changhong, Promac, etc. If it's not good enough to keep its brand name in the US market, chances are it's not good enough for you. HiSense has been making inroads and might be the brand to watch in the coming decade.

Recently got a 49" Sony X8500G for the living room, it replaced our 10 year old XBR9, so far sobrang positive ang experience namin sa Sony hehe. I think 100K hours ang average lifespan ng LCD TVs so I guess naka depende pa din sa usage kung ilang years tatagal.

I read somewhere na malaki improvement ng Android TV G series (2019) vs older ones thanks to the upgraded Mediatek CPU.

Say next year, i buy a 65”, i dispose the 43”, then next next year I get a 75” , then I dispose the 50”

Then 85”, may 85” na Devanr, tipong P109k ngaun

Imagine my condo having an 85”, 75” and 65” screen in 3-4 years time, putsa sinehan sa lahat ng kwarto hihi

Para sa kin big screen is better than quality screen, coz 720 to 1080p lang naman solb ako, pLdT Home Fibr, 20mpbs lang pwede na yun

As muxh as possible , stay away from smart tvs with Os, kasi hackable thru backdoors, thru the router ang tira nyan

Ang ok na TV is firmware type upgrades that serve the purpose, Netflix, Youtube maybe Facebook Video in the near future

Ang hirap pag lagi na hack ang tv mo, worst case scenario back and forth ka sa service center, eh pano kung 75” na tv mo, bigat nun, pain in the ass to carry to and fro

In my understanding, a 4k screen should have at least the flagship processors of a samsung, or snapdragon or the kirin series smartphones of samsung or huawei.

Kasi 4k is memory intensive to load na nga on a small smartphone screen tapos i load pa sa 65 screen or higher, tingen ko overheat yan. Remember , led screens are so thin, they dont have internal fans to cool off the microprocessors and memories

Kaya never ako nadala sa marketing ng mga higher end tv models sporting 4ks,
It’s a disaster waiting to happen, sa overheating muna yan then you’ll see some permament marks on the screen until it conks out

No, if the TV relleases specs, that it has at least 8GB or 16GB memory and an octacore cpu, pwede i could buy that. Pero kung mga old cPU and GPUs lang 4 years ago ang sinalpak, no thanks

Eh kaya lang ganyan ang gawain ng Samsung, they install the lower end cpus on the their TVs , presumably to cut cost. Coz if say they install the CpU of an ano ba ngaun S11 Smartphone, eh diba 50-60k na yun ngsun , lagay nila sa 65 tv yan , that would cost more than 80k .

But samsung cant compete in that level 80k 65” tvs while others are in 30k range

Dapat ngaun when buying Smart TVs, one has to be very knowledgeable in computers hardware specs
