Actually that's a really good way to get the best bang for the buck. Super tindi ng depreciation ng laptops so you can get a 1-2 yr old laptop for half the price as a brand new one with only 10% less performance.
Ang watch out lang is the battery life, so it's also nice if you can get a laptop with an easily available replacement battery.
The thing with laptops though is that there are so many variants out there, it's hard to shortlist which specs and which models you want. But if you take the time to do the research, you really end up saving a lot of money.

I recently bought a Lenovo Ideapad 320 primarily for school use. Serves it's purpose very well.
I still have my Lenovo G470 which is 5 years old now, just replaced the battery, still working fine.
The only thing you would not like with Lenovo is it's indestructible. You wouldn't get enough reason to buy a new one.

February 22nd, 2018 11:25 PM #103Thank you for all the tips! Been researching all day and i learned a ton. I narrowed it down to two choices if i get brand new:
Acer Aspire E15 i5
Dell Inspiron 5567
Ill be getting extra RAM and an SSD as well if possible iupgrade.
Pero intriguing option nga to get a secondhand one! The Inspiron 7567 looks like a good deal and checks a lot of boxes and i find a lot of the ultrabooks very appealing. To think i was looking at budget chromebooks at first ngayon andito nako haha lagot

February 25th, 2018 10:23 AM #105Suggestion: Get something with the Core i5 8250u CPU minimum, instead of the i5/i7 7xxx CPUs. If you plan to do a lot of work on your laptop, masusulit mo yung extra cores in the future.
Picked up a Lenovo from abroad about 1.5 years ago. Can't seem to find a similar model around here. A little heavier and bigger but needed it for some extra computing power. Mas mahal mga laptop dito by far.Last edited by mda; February 25th, 2018 at 10:31 AM.

February 26th, 2018 08:41 PM #106The aspire e15 with the 8250u cpu looks like a perfect model for my needs but ive yet to find one with the ssd included and 8gb ram. I see one with a 2tb hdd alternative though and only 4gb of ram. Expensive nga dito satin. Anyone recently buy through amazon? Kasmusta experience sa customs?
Ive been looking at gaming laptops recently. The Legion y520, Nitro 5, VX15 and the 7567. Actually going to SM Cyberzone tomorrow to start canvassing the prices and current promos.

Don't get a secondhand laptop, not worth the potential headaches (unless kilala mo may-ari).
25 to 35k
Mi Notebook Air 12.5 (Core m3) — PhP 28,990 (128GB), P31,990 (256GB)
40 to 45k
Mi Notebook Air 13.3 (Core i5) — PhP 43,500
Specs are really good and form factor is nice. Xiaomi has a shop in Trinoma, near Cinema 5.
Review and photos: Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air 13 (2 17) Nvidia MX15 / i5 72 U Review
The Mi Notebook Air 13 2017 edition is a fantastic notebook, it’s very quick, much faster than the 2016 model especially if you look at the GPU. It can handle most tasks with ease and even play some AAA 2017 titles like Battlefield 1 with playable frame rates. The GPU performance surprises, the SSD in the 256GB model is crazy fast thanks to the Samsung NVMe drive used.
End of the day, the refresh is a welcomed upgrade to the Mi Notebook Air 13, pushing the limits of what this small form factor can offer. It’s just a shame Xiaomi didn’t make any changes like offering up a 16GB RAM or most importantly improving the cooling. 52 degrees C to the touch after a 1-hour gaming session isn’t good at all, if you do plan to game on it, make sure you prop it up at least or better yet invest in a laptop cooler.

Not just the engine. It's literally a D-Max with Mazda styling, but everything mechanical is Isuzu....
