Evaporative Air Cooler:
pro:
-less power needed to operate
-cools a big area effectively
-costs less to buy
con:
-requires venting of air from inside to outside (change air) because of the rise in humidity. Since the system depends on water evaporation, if the air is very humid, the system will not work effectively. It would require installation of an exhaust fan or similar.
-requires periodical water replenishment
-water pad needs to be replaced eventually
-recommended water tank draining if algae is growing inside.
-can only cool 5 degrees from ambient temperature.
AIRCON:
pro:
-can cool a room to a desired temperature (if sized correctly)
-simple maintenance
con:
-consumes more power
-more expensive to buy

planning to buy one for the living room, what brand would you recommend?
btw lto main office at east ave vehicle inspection office waiting area (open air) does have one. imho its better than industrial electric fans.
Aftersales support, you mean? They do have some aftermarket parts... though not as exhaustive as...
