Less than 1%. Much less.

The problem right now is in asking the MNLF or MILF to help... coordination with the government will be difficult. The AFP balks at coordinating with rebels and former rebels. Part of that may be emotional... but operationally, it is very problematic. How do you do chain of command? How do you communicate and execute operations without a shared platform or operational manual? With the US forces, no issue... the constant joint exercises means that the AFP and US forces mesh well together.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

June 12th, 2017 08:36 AM #502^ The last time i heard, he scrapped the idea of asking the MILF/MNLF/NDF/NPA to help out in Marawi.
Some people don't want peace in Mindanao, or the government "meddling" in "their" affairs...because peace will mean the rule of the gun will end, and they lose their grip on power.

Those are what you call technical advisers. No nation with a sound leader will deprive their country with technical advise from advanced countries
Theres no paucity of courageous fighters in the ranks of AFP.
We just lack equipments that could save the lives of our warriors in a close in combat on an urban setting
Let zamboanga and marawi serve as a lesson to the AFP, on the gears that our soldiers need to fight in a close quarter battle set up

These post-ISIS jihadists/terrorists do things big
An ied here an IED there doesn't get you on the front page anymore or become viral on social media
Take an entire city... That'll attract attention
ISIS set the precedent some years ago when they took large parts of syria and Iraq and uploaded videos of beheadings
From then on terrorist acts have to be really big and crazy to attract attentionLast edited by uls; June 12th, 2017 at 03:08 PM.

Iligan is always a target if you want to control mindanao because of the hydro-electric power plants
Capture and torch those precious infrastructures and you plunge mindanao into darkness

June 12th, 2017 08:35 PM #507SolGen: Gov’t had advance info on Marawi siege | Inquirer News
So they had info since May 18th but still went to Russia (the whole shebang mind you) on the 22nd. So its no longer a failure of intelligence, instead simple negligence. It would have been better if they just stopped at "nalusotan tayo" and shut their mouths. They tried making up excuses to look good and instead they made themselves look like idiots.

^iligan is the most guarded city in mindanao precisely because of the hydro-electric power plants. Its also a pre-dominantly catholic city, so sympathy to an islamic cause is very minimal
There are many security personnel in plain clothes even if theres no conflict in mindanao. Now that the national government is on heightened alert, those maute advance party will just be reporting to their superiors that check points are all over
