The use of Son(capital S) of God to refer to self is distinct to Jesus. On the Epistles of Paul and John, on the other hand, they refer to followers as children of God, inferring that God the Father adopted us as His sons(small s) while making it clear that Jesus is His Only Son(capital S).

And because Jesus IS the Son of God...

So why in the world would the Apostles worship Jesus if He is merely a man? The answer is plain and simple. It's only up to you if you want to accept the truth.
