AUV's are defined by Philippine law as closed type vehicle (wagon not pick-up) with a seating capacity of at least ten seats and has the required local content. I hope that settles the issue.
Of course the definition of AUV can change from one Asian country to another.
AUV's do not pass U.S. and Euro standards because they were never tested. Malay natin pumasa sila if they were subjected to those tests diba? Even the MB100 can pass the European flat barrier crash testing (front and rear).
SUV - I never call my vehicle that anymore. I just call it a 'rig' or a 'truck'.

SUV pa rin. there are many unibody SUVs around.
speaking of which, the AUV simply doesnt exist anymore as a practical vehicle class for the most part. the innova, adventure, and crosswind are now all in the same class as the ford everest (4x4 option of the everest notwithstanding) - mid-size SUV, as they really were even long ago.

malaki difference ang AUV sa SUV
i have both...
SUV (LC) - snappy ang mag saludo ng secu and pulis
AUV (xwind) - bahala ka sa buhay mo... parang ala lang wala man smile or pag misan di ka man titignan
BWAHAHAHA :D

malabo din, pajero has an ancient 4d56 or 4m40 hehe, mga patrol may td42 pa, whereas the innova has a spiffy new engine hehe... (the innova is logically an "AUV" - or mid-size SUV, being the logical replacement for the revo... i dont agree with classifying it as a minivan like some peeps do)
if the innova can no longer be classified as an AUV, then indeed, the AUV classification is now obsolete

I believe that the biggest difference is the seating capacity.
AUV - seats 10.
SUV - seats 5 - 7.
Innovo is not an AUV, it seats only 7... so how do you classify the Adventure and Crosswind? Since Revo discontinued the Revo.

crosswind ko 6 lang capacity nya
tinanggal ko na mga upuan ko sa likod...
Could also be due to the high demand that the manufacturer prioritized new car deliveries vs. spare...
