Hyundai SUV Named the Year’s Best-Selling Korean Car
Hyundai Motor’s Tucson sports utility vehicle was the nation’s best-selling car both at home and abroad this year.
According to industry figures published Monday, Hyundai sold a total of 231,385 Tucsons in the first 11 months of the year, 37,957 here and 193,428 abroad.
It was followed by Hyundai’s Avante XD with 222,232 cars sold, including 70,471 at home and 151,761 overseas. Third and fourth place was taken by compact vehicles, whose sales were sluggish in the domestic market but brisk in Europe and elsewhere.
Daewoo posted Kalos sales of 215,830 units -- a mere 3,792 sold domestically but a whopping 212,038 abroad, making the model Korea’s third best seller. Hyundai’s Click compact car came fourth with 181,489 sold, also boosted by brisk exports of 171,144 units.
The rest of the top 10 were made up by GM Daewoo’s Lacetti with 160,263 units, Hyundai’s Santa Fe with 151,808, Kia’s Sportage with 145,216, Kia’s Sorento with 142,647 and Kia’s Morning with 133,246.

They are not really rabidly naturalistic.
The Korean car market is structured to favor local brands over imports.
But the Tucson is a good car in itself.
