March 18th, 2004 10:56 AM #1As read from these sites, it appears that LC80s with 1HD-T engines in Oz are experiencing problems with failures of connecting rod bearings.
What Toyota doesn't want you to know about the 1HD-T engine (HDJ-80 '90-95)
1HD-T big end bearings
Are we hearing similar problems in local LC80s? How about ex-RHD converted LCs from Japan? Let's hear from you guys. We should be prepared, just in case.

Acid test talaga ang Oz.
Engines are run hard, at high speeds, for very long distances.
Hindi naman siguro magiging problema dito yan if you don't take your LC80 to the limit.

March 20th, 2004 10:04 PM #4I have long been toying with the idea of intercooling my 1HD-T gear, but, in the light of my recently-acquired info of its notoriety in the Oz environment, together with insufficient information on performance statistics of locally-marketed units, I finally decided to drop the proposed scheme.
So goodby turbo-intercooled 1HD-T............
The 12-month warranty on the factory battery ended a few days ago. SOH is still good at over 90%,...
Cheaper brands than Motolite but reliable as well
