    I don't want to think that this is a simple case of diluting the emissions by letting more air in before the end of the pipe (where emissions are sampled for testing).......

    But I can't see how the reaction: 2 CO + O2 --> 2 CO2
    can occur under normal tailpipe conditions.

    quote:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Pagdating naman sa "venturi section" ng EGO ng mga "exhaust gases", nagkakaroon ng "partial secondary oxidation". Mga "40% - 60% of the exhaust gases containing Carbon Monoxide and HC reacts with inducted Oxygen from air to form again Carbon Dioxide, traces of Nitrogen and water!" kaya nga tinawag na "EXHAUST GAS OXIDOZER" o EGo.

    I also have difficulty with

    --------------------------------
    "....Carbon Monoxide and HC reacts with inducted Oxygen from air to form again Carbon Dioxide, traces of Nitrogen and water!"
    --------------------------------

    Hydrocarbons (HC) don't just get oxidized when mixed with air ....and I don't see high enough velocities or conditions of high energy developing in the "tailpipe " venturi to accomplish this "secondary oxidation" ....

    There is a question of Activation Energy for the reaction:

    HC + O2 ---> CO2 + H2O

    (HC stands for the various HydroCarbons in the fuel). In the case of octane (C8H18), that is:

    2 C8H18 + 25 O2 --> 18 H2O + 16 CO2

    I don;t see this happening under ordinary tailpipe temperatures..... you either need very high temp or flame or spark (which is a concentrated form of energy and at a very high temp) ..., to provide the Activation Energy, and the right concentration of the reactants.

    That's why catalysts made of platinum, palladium, rhodium were invented .........these allow the further oxidation of hydrocarbons under "relatively" low temps by lowering the Activation Energy of the reaction.....( that's the role of catalysts ..... which explains why they "speed up" chemical processes)....and these temps, still, are not really low ....not your regular tailpipe temp.....

    A false sense of emissions improvement could be at work here because most testing instruments measure CONCENTRATIONS and not ABSOLUTE QUANTITIES... and that's for practical reasons...

    Just my humble opinion po........

    P.S. I normally drive thinking about the egg between my foot and the pedal anyway

    In case my exhaust pipe or any component or section of my vehicle suffers any oxidation or unwanted deformations as a result of the EGO's installation, and/or operation, and/or in the event of failure -detachment, I would require it to be restored to its original condition or replaced if necessary.
    A simple affirmation of the conditions stated above would suffice. Otherwise please don't waste my time.

    I have no fervent desire to cut and weld a component which has so much marketing jabber behind it if the agent himself has a problem explicitly affirming a fundamental clause which I require with immediate effect in the event such an obviously speculative item fails.

    Simply put, if it doesn't work, I want my system to be restored immediately. Your guarantee clause does not specify the period wherein the repair/replacement will occur. I want it to be immediate in the event of failure.

    Not to mention answering plainly technical questions with even more marketingspeak.

    Dude, you're already spamming posters here, the least you can do is engage in intelligible conversation if you really want to prove your product's worth.

    I suggest if ever the challenge pushes through, you people will be in charge of installing the item under the supervision of the moderators and 3rd party witnesses.

    Tests will be conducted as follows:

    Before Installation and After Installation
    1) Accelleration
    2) Exhaust Emissions
    3) Economy as per 100km

    What I will spend on:
    1) Emmissions Tests
    2) Fuel
    3) Time

    What you will spend on:
    1) The EGO device
    2) Installation

    If it works what you get is:
    1) Thumbs up in a full written review with graphs on accelleration, power and torque.
    2) Positive publicity.
    3) Legitimacy

    I get:
    1) Fuel economy
    2) Better power
    3) Cleaner Emmissions

    If it doesn't work you get:
    1) Vilified for trying to sham people.
    2) Castigated for wasting my time
    3) Likely really really bad publicity.
    4) To pay for detachment and likely replacement of my exhaust pipe.

    I lose:
    1) Time

    So what's it gonna be?

    pink_cadillac,

    As I have already posted, we can and we will accomodate your request/conditions, so affirming again to go on with the EGO Challenge but a little modification on the installation which we will require you to shoulder first the cost because you get to choose the welding shop/welder who will do the actual installation under our supervision as well as the moderators and 3rd party witnesses. We will give you a generous discount to cover more than what you will spend in this challenge when you finally pay for EGO device after our successful testing to be!:nerd:

    This Ego thing seems to be just another catalytic converter. For what it's worth, there are several Toyota v8 engines already that have four (two pairs; one pair per exhaust pipe) like my 2UZ-FE.

    I really don't mind if they sell it as such --they're just another guy trying to make a living; and besides it *may* really have some benefits however ineffecient it is --but to pad it with marketing babble to confuse the less educated is bad.

    And as for this dual-Venturi gadget? It may just be two propellers inside that Ego thing that swirl the exhaust gases, like that Tornado gadget they're selling in the USA. However, instead of putting that swirly-gig in the intake manifold, they just put it in the catalytic converter!
