April 17th, 2009 10:50 AM #3781Good Day to all. Up ko lang itong inquiry regarding Nissan Xtrail. I'm contemplating on getting a 2nd hand Xtrail those 07 models and up. My Budget is around 800K, is it worth to own an Xtrail. I really like the front looks, machong macho and I've test driven one, ok naman ang hatak. How's the fuel consumption of a 4X2 2.0? Medyo weird nga lang yung instrument panel nya, nasa center but I think I can live with it. Please help me decide. Thanks in advance!

I have one, a 2006 4x2 2.0Li model.
It's a pretty good car.
Likes:
Nice looks even for its age in design. Comfy for both city and long-distance drives. FC, I've been getting a constant 7km/li for city driving in heavy traffic versus around 10-11 km/li for highway driving. Has decent space at the back to haul your 32" flatscreen tv or around 4 golf bags. You'll appreciate the bottle coolers near the aircon vents and the drink holders.
Dislikes:
Interior plastics are easily scratched. Watch out for the at shifter's bulb (the one which illuminates the gear selector) since mine gave out after only 3 years. You gotta look out for the toping problem (mine was easily fixed). Minor fit and finish niggles like the rubber insulation/weather strip at the rear doors which came loose in my ride. Stereo's ok but not that great.

I have a 2007 Nissan X-Trail 250X Tokyo Edition. If you get the 2.0 model of this I think it will have the same interior which is better than the model previous to this. But I think it eats up gas more than the 2.5 Liter. Mine is like new right now and on average doing 7-7.5 km/l city driving. I dont have any problems. Torque is great! and i love the front coz as you said machong-macho. I also scuba dive so I like the plastic cargo room that can get wet and that I can easily wash. I think I prefer this than the CRV that came before the 2007 CRV model. Just sad that the xtrail model is like 3 yrs late here. They are already getting the latest model in Australia an Europe which has a much better interior.
Oh when I had my check-up last month, nissan changed my aux fan. They said its not working properly but I never really saw a problem. I didnt notice a change too when they fixed it. But its ok coz it was under warranty so i didnt pay anything. Nissan also has good service and they can prvide discounts on check-ups.

April 21st, 2009 08:02 AM #3784I am in the hunt now for an Xtrail. If I have the budget, I would love to get a Bnew one but I'll have to settle for a 2nd hand di abot ang budget at takot kasi ako mangutang, so pagkakasyahin ko na lang yung budget ko. I've been reading some Xtrail sites and so far wala naman akong nakitang major problem ng Xtrail. Timing Chain na po ba ang Xtrail?

April 21st, 2009 09:59 AM #3787Got my 4 x 2 / 2.0 Ltr. xtrail 2 weeks ago. After weeks of evaluation and reading reviews from various forums and car related websites, I ended up choosing this particular SUV due to several factors which I think most of those who are planning to get an SUV would deal with.
1.) Diesel or Gasoline Engine- We do have our respective insights and opinion about this matter and as far as I am concern, I would still stick to a gas fed vehicle as I am used to it given my lifestyle and the manner and purpose by which I shall use this vehicle.
2.) Aesthetics ( Interior and Exterior) - Again, as far as I am concern, the xtrail although dated in terms of looks as compared to its counterpart still looks more appealing to me. Sabi nga nila, mas macho ang dating.Amenities and feature-wise, mas advanced ang CRV and the others given those space age instrumentations and gauges. For me, the more features, the more complicated , more to maintain and mas malaki expense pag nasira.
3.) Price - For a 4x2 2.0 liter SUV, xtrail is in the middle. Not as high as the overpriced CRV but definitely a bit pricey than the low end Escape.
4.) Fuel Consumption and Handling- If a 6-7 Km/liter fuel consumption
of a 2.0 Liter Gas Fed SUV is not acceptable to you THEN there's a possibilty that you are not ready to own a Gas Fed SUV.
Driving an xtrail is like driving a sedan, thats the best way to describe it.

My wife would love Xtrail then. The problem is, there are very few units in the 2nd hand market for those 07 and up models.
