sir, i actually dont have an Elgrand. Im here in the forum because i read your previous posts regarding the mods that you have done
for the injection, im thinking of adding one to lessen the grey/light black smoke that my pajero fieldmaster emits during sudden hard acceleration. and ofcourse, also to add extra power.

Pajero's do pretty good on the water injection as long as you add alcohol they don't like 100% water at least not with a 3gph nozzle. Here's a dyno for the 2.5 and 2.8 liter engines. I would highly recommend the boost mod for the 2.8 engine or 2.5. The extra boost along with the cooling give a much better gain.
I believe this was with around 20% rubbing alcohol denatured or methanol would do much better for power and cooling.

February 5th, 2011 01:48 PM #125Thank you for all the inputs DvlDoc...and as it turned out, I have not read your posts in the past week and I also set aside my El Grand as it is too big for daily driving (it is a weekend family car when all the kids are in tow) in Manila -- the non use totally killed my battery with less than 3V capacity as I check it a while ago. I also found out that it is a 2SM Japanese battery but the size of the battery case seems to be for a larger battery (3SM).
Would you have the proper spec for the battery DvlDoc and what would be a good brand that you may suggest.
One more short one, where can I possibly buy the El Grand emblems in the front and the rear?
Thank you as always.

I Motolite Gold, is what I got. As far as the emblems go only Ebay or some place that sell surplus parts might have them but highly unlikely you will find a extra unless you find a wrecked Elgrand.
To me the Elgrand is not to big, It's my daily driver when I am in the Philippines but in Manila I can see it being a bit of a pain. It's no longer than a Fortuner or a Everest or many of the pick-ups and SUV's there.
Never keep the Japan brand non climatized batteries they will die in a few months. Most are already several years old. GET A VOLTAGE GAUGE! Don't be left stranded, The battery warning light will not show lowing voltage indication of a dead battery or alternator.
Factory specs are.
Specifications
Voltage - 12V
Capacity - 95Ah
CCA(EN) - 830A
Dimensions(mm)
302 x 175 x 225

Also I have a problem with my side mirror, which is the angle is not balance. When you adjusted the left and the right of the mirror housing. To make it short one side mirror has the right angle to view the side. It is normal that both side mirror housing moving, when the power side mirror switch is activated?

The QD32ETI should get fairly good fuel economy like 12 to 14klm per liter on the highways and around 10lkm a liter in the city. I get around 17klm per liter with the mods I have done to the van. There are also different shift modes. Leaving it in Power mode will give you firmer faster shifts but slightly reduce fuel economy. Leaving it in A/T mode will give you the best economy. For your 4X4 guys keep the 4WD off you don't need it and it will just make your fuel economy suffer.
But here is a few places to start.
1. Check the stock hose that connect the intake to the turbo, Many of these have splits in them and cause lose of power and fuel economy. There is not a Elgrand that does not have one that has not split or will not split period.
This is the part. You can use silicone tape or RTV adhesive to seal it back up. Your might already have a attempt to repair it in place so check it.
The next thing is 2 stoke engine oil, At about 10oz per full tank of fuel make a big difference in how smooth the engine runs. And I did notice a slight improvement in fuel economy within 2 tanks worth.
Third thing is a oil catch can to keep your intake track clean of carbon build up and soot. I took my intake off and cleaned it before installing any of my modifications and it was freaking dirty and partially blocked.
Here is a example on the ZD30 engine. Yeah it gets that bad. A EGR delete is also highly recommended.
4th the stock intake box is basically for silencing the noise, It's not for performance and it's super restrictive. Removing it make a huge difference in your acceleration and performance. You will need to get a nissan MAF sensor adapter to do it. Or get one made at any metal shop for pretty cheap. Just bring in your stock MAF sensor so they can cut to fit a plate with a 3" Outer diameter pipe on it.
example/ ( Mine is similar but I clamped my filter directly to the adapter.
Actually adapter (one on the right)
5th, Change your oil a full synthetic or semi synthetic.
6th Manual boost controller, Gives you much smoother boost and it holds it's boost without bleeding down. You can see on mine, I have it set to 15psi and it hold it. Stock boost is around 8psi

As for the stereo no problem there, Most shops can just install one, especially if the factory harness is unmolested. You just get a nissan ISO connector and it's plug and play. I replaced mine with a 7" touch screen player sold locally.
Your mirrors are designed for driving in Japan, You will never be able to get the angle on the passenger side window were you want it. Get some stick on blind spot mirrors to add on. I had to do the same thing.

After market wheel Elgrand Owners warning. And the need for Hubcentric rings.
Those of you that have after market wheels need to know a few things.
The Nissan Elgrand has a 100mm hub, which is a rare size many rims are 108mm to 110mm that's more of the average. You can see from this photo the wheel does not rest on the Hub, The lug nuts are the only thing supporting it. No matter how tight you make them this is still dangerous. You will also notice a terrible vibration around 90 to 100 kph that you cannot get rid of no matter how many times you balance your tires.
Dangers, studs can snap off, you can loose a wheel at highway speeds, loss of control at high speeds are just some of them. Problems that will keep costing you money, irregularly
worn tires, excess wear on suspension parts such as end links and ball joints due to excessive vibration ect.
I got my rings from the states for 10USD plus shipping 100mm to 108mm in size.
Here is my vehicle you can see the big gap, You could not go 100kph without some really bad vibration that shook the steering wheel.
See the gap with no ring.
With ring no gap no vibrations
Autoplus in Manila is the only place I know that will machine you out a set of ring. Not sure where you can buy there. Mine are polycarbonate plastic but you might be able to find some there.
Here is what the look like.

I am currently observing the 2SM battery installed on my MU-X, Yuasa brand. Kaka 1 yr lang nito...
Cheaper brands than Motolite but reliable as well
