hi dvldoc. been a long time you posted here. just want to ask few questions. don't own an elgrand, but regarding diesel engines with turbo(prior CRDI), the ones you mentioned previously, is it applicable to any diesel engines?
like the blanking of EGR, oil catch can, adding 2t to fuel. etc?
is it applicable to nissan serena with turbo 2.0 liter?

I actually post all the time, you should jump in the engine section and check out the 2t engine oil in diesel use post nad bypass oil filter post along with the egr delete thread. Good info that covers all your question in there.
But yes all this stuff will help any diesel run cleaner and last longer. The CD20ETi in that vehicle can defiantly use the help because they have issues with overheating. Carbon build up in the engine increases combustion temps which makes EGT's higher and makes your engine run hotter. The 2T will make a significant difference in those engines as well because they are pretty shacky. And being under your seat your realy going to notice the difference in smoothness not to mention it will burn cleaner and your injection pump will love you for it. The oil catch can is a biggy as well, you get tons of soot build up in the intake that clogs the EGR shut anyways making it non functional and fills your intake with soot, oil and carbon build up.
You want a million mile diesel these are some things you can do to keep them running great forever. Don't forget good filters.

The rear brakes should be the same as a Terrano and Xtrail, Navara and Frontier pickup should all fit.
Blower from a Same year Serena should also work.
Rear shoes size
Diameter: 260 mm
Width: 50 mm
Part number for rear brakes

November 11th, 2011 10:45 PM #236You're such a big help dvdldoc
i guess the serena is also an imported one right? ill try to look for it here too, Is it normal for the elgrand to have a fuel consumption of 8 or 9 per kml a liter? no modifications on the engine.whats the best way to keep it lower? the fuel consumption.

8 to 10 klm per liter is close to average, I was getting about 8 when I got mine, it does 9.5 now in the city with the mods and about 12 to 13 on the highway.
Best cheap fuel improvement modification on these is to ditch the factory air box and go with a cone filter. You need a adapter plate to use a cone filter. It's posted in this thread,
Elgrands have a bit of a over fueling issue at low rpms, Removing the factory air box changes the air flow reading of the MAF and will lean out the fueling a bit for better economy and less smoking. I have seen some smokey Elgrands on the Highway and in town.
Also if you can get a manual boost controller and boost gauge a stock Elgrand is much happier at 10psi than it is at the 7 to 8 psi it makes stock and the boost is much more consistent and smother with a manual boost controller in place.

November 13th, 2011 03:53 PM #238OK i will review the post concerning bout the cone filter and the adapter plate and is it expensive to get a manual boost controller?
by the way i have not change the transmission oil since we bought the elgrand, its been a year and 3 months already but the tranny still good.Do i really need to replace the existing oil with a new one? thanxs

The adapter plates are not expensive, hard to find yes. Or you can go to any metalworks shop and have one made for a few hundred pesos. You just need to make a template of your MAF sensor housing and then have them weld on a 3" pipe that is about 3" long.
I would just trace it out on some good poster board and then bring it to the shop, all you need then is the filter and some mounting bolts.
Boost controllers are not expensive under 2000P in most cases. I would look at any shop dealing with performance upgrades like speedlab ect. You can probably find it at other smaller shops as well.
I would change the transmission fluid if I were you. A lot of these imported vehicles spent a long time just sitting around in a lot in Japan not being driven ect. And if it has more than 120000K on it it's due to be changed. Make sure you use Nissan transmission fluid if you cannot find the multi-import ATF fluid or Dextron III and up. The Elgrand takes 8.5 liters.
The transmission filter is a simple screen so it can be re-used, just have the shop flush it out and clean it and re-install.
