ang alam ko inutusan na yung LTO para maghanda sa ganitong classification ng vehicle, pero as usual pinoy tayo hehehe, 10 yrs pa yan bago mangyari.

Sabi naman ng iba na delikado daw sa kalsada lalo na sa mga national roads, Ito mismo iniisip ko kanina kasi gusto ko din bumili ng quad bike. Natawa ako na kasabay ko sa C5 eh bicycle na walang helmet, parang nagkakalokohan, ATV or quadbike delikado daw sa C5, pano pa sa mga bisikleta na walang ilaw at gears?

Blame the almost utter lack of progress in LTO for classification, but most ATVs are definitely not designed for on-road use. Not enough braking, gearing not suited for on-road use (gears too short) and a soft and bouncy suspension built for off-roading, which can lead to rollovers in violent maneuvers.

Currently, you can't register and use ATVs on public roads.

Our business is into importing ATVs from China and since day one, we haven't able to register it. It is prohibited to be of use in public roads. Another, standard tires for ATV at least for what we are carrying prematurely wears if used on asphalt/tarmac than if used in grass or sands. Excessive caster angle = terminal understeer and strong self centering. Di naman sya nakaka enjoy sya i-drive. Ang cool nga lang ;)

other reason naman talaga, kung mareregister sa LTO eh yung maprotect mo yung property mo at yung ownership mo talaga sa ATV or Quad bike na bibilhin mo. At pangalawa na yung kotong na MMDA.

sayang naman di pala pwede rehistro ang ATV dito sa pinas...pwede yan sa probinsya sa mga barrio...gusto ko din magka ATV

hehe. pangit yung gawang china, at handling medyo awkward. pag nakamali ka ng liko puwede kang mag-roll diyan.

hindi naman talaga pang handling ang gawang china. besides i think, it's just 1/3 the price.

Actually, even the Japanese ones can roll over if you do violent maneuvers.

ATVs really aren't built for road use... period. There are those that are built for road use, as well as the UTVs that can carry multiple passengers and have more power... but the LTO doesn't have the knowhow to classify them.

Should be pretty simple. Does the driver sit inside it or on top? Inside, classify it as a car... must meet all requirements of a car. On top, classify it as a motorcycle, and it must meet all requirements of a motorcycle. Tapos!
