sir,
what make and model is your new alarm? is that equipped with autolock after reaching a certain speed (say 20kmph after start)? the stock alarm has autolock immediately after switching ignition key, but normally, i start the car before other riders come in, so i have to open the doorlock manually. then since i opened it manually, it never lock again by itself so i have to manually lock it again; worst i left the doors unlock while driving and it is risky that somebody may just jump into your car while on stop or slow traffic.
is your new alarm also equipped with autolock instead of alarm after disarming? the stock, when you pressed unlock button, will unlock the door and disarm. but after 30 seconds without opening the door, it will arm again but will never lock the door. and if you open the door, the loud siren sounds! i prefer the one with autolock after 30 seconds of disarming. It is very irritating to hear the siren if i forgot to to put the alarm on valet mode everytime i need to wash it which required opening the doors so often.
i am so dismayed of the stock alarm's functions and siren. i prefer the stock alarm of toyota (TVSS), this is my first mitsu since i like the styling of the ms. i am enjoying it except for the stock alarm.
tia for your reply! cheers!

I'm sorry to tell you this, but i don't know the brand nor the model of my alarm. I did see a cobra sticker on it before i took it off... The reason for this is because it was sponsored to me during the autoshow and when they told me and showed me the functions, i agreed to have them install it. I understand, if it wasn't for the auto arming, i don't think i would have changed it, i mean the stock alarm is a good branded alarm. But i consulted mitsu, and you're suppose to be able to set the functions so that it would not auto arm without locking. In the past the autoarm with locking caused too many problems for people leaving their keys inside the car, they said at least this time, it won't lock so you can still get into your car if you accidentally left the keys in your car. Do you get the reasoning behind that?
As for autolock while moving.. mine is in the footbrake, so when we get in the car, it won't autolock, i hate going in the car and it locks while people are still outside. and i have to not close my door when i start the car! At least now, when i step on the brakes, it will lock. And i haven't quite figured it out yet, but yes when another passengers unlocks and closes the door, when i press on the brakes it locks again. Let me know what else i can clarify. Parang magulo explanation ko eh.
My advice, look for a code alarm dealer or just look for code alarm's main office and ask them how to reprogram the alarm to your specifics.
