July 6th, 2014 08:13 PM #61Tama hehehe....

6-8km/l gasoline on a 2.0 engine! I have a 3.2L diesel pickup (mazda bt50) and the worst city driving mileage i get is 8.5km/L. Worst yan ha, like idling for a long period with aircon on in heavy traffic. Hiway, at 110kph is 12km/L.
Not always true that a smaller engine will give better gas mileage. For example a 1.3 vios has worse mileage than a 1.5. Remember the weight of the vehicles are almost the same so if a bigger engine has a higher thermal efficiency then you will get better mileage with it than a smaller displacement engine with a lower thermal efficiency.

Well you really can't compare diesel VS gas fuel consumption. Its more of a question of given the price difference of gasoline powered car vs a diesel powered one would you be able to recover the difference on fuel savings? Its a question of your mileage really... If you're pretty much a city driver you probably won't recover the difference for the life of the car...

I have no idea why my mom doesn't use her Asx. I don't live with her, so i just bring the car around every Sunday para ma gamit lang.
Anyway she came from a 2006 1.8 Ford Focus (7-9 km/l mixed city highway driving).
