Never had any major issues with my Monty GTV during my 11 years of ownership.
Only major expenses/issues I recall were tires (when replacing all 4), battery, steering wheel controls do not function anymore, no more batteries on the TPMS tire receivers, front wiper water noozle needed constant clearing to ensure a good spray, and no map update for the GPS unit.
Another major expense was the timing belt and related parts change (this is expected). Aircon was not an issue although during heavy traffic, it would lose its cool but once it was moving again, it became cool again.

November 14th, 2022 11:20 AM #2022Just had 90k kms pms at mmpc q ave (gateway cebu operated) done for our previous gen Montero. Taas nandin ng PMS kung hindi lang change oil but every 3 years lang plan gawin sa mmpc so it cushions the blow at least.
Nakakwentuhan ko service advisor about current gen Montero.
Per update sa akin, mga 50% ng issues is concerning power tail gate (pinipilit manual kaya nagkakaerror, operating power tailgate while in drive yung transmission, and electronic parking brake issue - usually nangatngat daw wiring)

February 16th, 2023 10:45 AM #2023Hi, seeking insight on transmission fluid (AT) change. Ive read service booklets and they say the same, change transmission fluid every 40,000 Km. (Unless I have missed it) there is no time span.
Problem: I have low mileages (e.g. 20,000Km for 6+years)
Does that mean I'll probably need to change AT fluid after another 6years? Or is there like an "every x years whichever comes first?
Thoughts welcome =)

February 16th, 2023 11:13 AM #2025i will agree that you replace the atf already. 6years is already long ang saving grace mo lang is the low mileage. think of it this way sobrang nasulit mo na ying current atf and more. luckily wala namang seemingly ill effect yung prolonged useage.

February 16th, 2023 11:26 AM #2026as with what others said, better change ATF na.
for reference as to what a possible "time equivalent" to the mileage indicated in the service booklet. Here, casa usually computes it as 5k every 3 mos, 10k every 6mos or 20k every year ang "normal" usage, or equivalent to 2 years.
So, even on the low side of 10k every year to give some leniency of "life" of oil, 4 year interval, if that is what's recommended by the booklet na every 40k. Pero just projecting it lang. Since 6 years ka na, even on the generous computation na 4 year interval, lagpas na din yung life ng ATF mo. =)

agree with others na better palitan na ang atf at filters. if not keen on changing then at least replace the filter and top-up sa proper level.

February 16th, 2023 01:46 PM #2028Even for vehicles with those so called “lifetime fluids” pinapalitan din dapat, because there’s really no such thing.
Meron, in the sense that manufacturers design vehicles to last mga 8-12 years lang, on average. (Aba syempre, so you keep buying cars kung di mo pagsawaan) Yung 8-12 years na yun yung “lifetime” na never mo palitan yung fluid because they expect you to send it to the scrapyard by that time na

February 16th, 2023 07:57 PM #2029Actually, the reason I asked the forum is because low mileage ako, but I DO feel na hindi kasing smooth yung shifting of gears unlike before.
Yung CASA checks it naman wala silang sinasabi I expected them to tell me to change when needed..
In any case, yes this Saturday, I'll include changing ATF na sa PMS..
Thanks guys!
#hehe I assume you'll say the same about tires, need to change na din
