October 25th, 2022 04:30 PM #2011Our previous gen Montero now has a Pioneer HU. We had to upgrade the speakers though because they were too low power in rating and the Pioneer would output higher than they could handle. Hehe! No GPS though now for the HU but we've mainly relied on Google Maps and not the built in GPS Navigation anyway.
Don't know if the current gen Montero has "better" quality speakers now. The previous gen's stock speakers were, for lack of a better word, anemic to say the least

October 25th, 2022 08:48 PM #2015Our family's previous generation Montero now uses Pioneer AVH-X5850BT
AVH-X585BT - Pioneer
But I didn't buy this brand new. Bought it from a friend who was going to sell his Montero (same generation as ours) and he re-fitted the AVT stock unit.
When I got the Pioneer Unit, I also got the "cowl" for the dashboard for the Pioneer Unit. The stock one used for the AVT Head Unit will not fit/work. I don't know if there are alternatives with exact proportions to the AVT. Can't help in that department. Don't know if and where you could possibly get a cowl to match a replacement headunit for the previous generation Montero.
I can't recall if Winterpine also carried the dashboard cowl to go over alternative HUs that they sell. They only did the installation for the HU/cowl I got and also the replacement speakers in their Araneta Avenue Shop I went to.
NOTE: Other than no GPS, Steering wheel controls we did not bother finding a way to pair with the Pioneer Head Unit. And the manual radio controls underneath the headunit is just "there" and isn't wired to work with the Pioneer at all. I did not bother checking if it can be made to work. Just for additional information.

October 25th, 2022 09:04 PM #2016Hehe you are the first to say (at least as I can recall) that wala naman masyado issues si Montero.
That's good to hear though. Meron din naman cguro monty units that had bearable maintenance costs and minimal problems.

October 26th, 2022 01:24 PM #2018Swerte lang ako sa timing kasi nung malala na problem HU ko na out of warranty, kaibigan ko bebenta na Montero niya and nabili ko yung HU niya.
As for asa Montero namin, no major repairs lang.
Rear Shock Absorber - 1x replaced under warranty before reaching 3 years. Last year replaced with KYB rear shock absorbers. May leak din ulit. Fault na ito namin malamang naman na may hindi napansin na pothole or what not kaya nabigla shock absorbers. Rear lang parati. Front Shocks are still stock per my recall.
Check engine light - 1x under warranty. Rusted Fuel neck was cause of Check Engine Light. Replaced under warranty. Stopped using the gas station I frequented that time. Issue has not repeated since then.
EGR - cleaned once lang under MMPC. I don't recall it being done twice. Sinabay nung timing belt replacement.
Timing Belt - replaced back in early 2020 before pandemic I recall. 8 years na kasi and per booklet naman whichever comes first, nauna yung time rather than kms.
Turbo - still running stock
HU - already told the story here. 1st year, AVT warranty, 3rd year AVT Warranty. 7th or 8th year nung pinalitan to Pioneer na.
Speakers - replaced same period when we had Pioneer Installed.
Alarm Controller - replaced under warranty once, and now disconnected na yung controller with the car coming from Winterpine. Keyless entry of Mitsubishi still works.
Steering Wheel Controls - battery operated, tinamad na kami gamitin from way back and di na namin try pairing with Pioneer.
Tint - dealer included 3M (or 3m OEM lang ba) na hindi heat rejection tint may konting distortion na. but liveable naman. hehe!
Mileage ng Montero under 90k kms pa, bawas na talaga travel since nagstart pandemic, but not completely garage queen naman. Konti spot repaints lang a few panels to "restore" the finish. Not due to collision, but mga gasgas habang nakapark sa public parking areas (hindi kalsada). hehe!
So no real big issues as far as I could see from ownership standpoint. Mas mura pa nga LTO registration fees ng Montero kaysa sa Sylphy. haha

November 13th, 2022 02:05 PM #2020Good afternoon friends. Sorry off topic pero dito na nasimulan mga talk e.
Baka someone here knows the rule lang.. (diko mahanap sa Google, or I might be using the wrong root words).
*Does the old rule still apply wherein you can only use a new vehicle for 1 week while waiting for your OR/CR?
Dealership says there is no more limit, you can use a new car as long as you have a sales invoice and temporary license plate na may Conduction umber.
Pero, nakakaduda din sila so I've been googling (wala mahanap info).. maybe someone can share insight?
Thanks!!

Could also be due to the high demand that the manufacturer prioritized new car deliveries vs. spare...
