I seriously doubt Mitsubishi would ever consider putting a V6 on the new Outlander. Most manufacturers now opt to use turbocharged engines instead of a V6 or V8.
Since Mitsubishi is owned by Nissan, they would opt to reuse existing platforms, engines, and transmissions used by the global platforms of Nissan. Mitsubishi already has a very small presence in the US and Europe so they would invest in areas where they are still making sales. For now, SEA is doing good with the MS, Xpander, and Mirage.
