Is Jeepney still something to be proud of?

We cant deny it. Its part of our culture. Jeepney is been with us after WWII. It might be true that our ingenuity(Now how do you spell that|? hehehe)had help us recover after the war. But Its been Decades and still Jeepney still remain the same. We Still have no National Car. other neighboring countries have their own car. Indonesia Had one. Malaysia is coming back with proton
vietnam seems to be doing in car manufacturing.

Whats in a jeep anyway?

Crowded. The last passenger should sit only one of his or her butt cheek.

Barbaric Drivers. As another driver in the street I must say that 80% of jeepneys does not respect trafficc signs. If your in an open intersection and your on the redside and a jeep is beside you. theres a 90% chance that it would ignore the sign.
Some even are disrespectful to their passenger and to trafficc enforcers.

Pollution. Jeepneys has got to be the most neglected piece of equipment in this counrty. There are rules alright but nobodyseems to care.
Road worthy. At night maybe only 2 out of 10 has the proper or required light for safety.

Cheap fare or is it? at P7.50 for the first 5 kilometer?I dont think so.
Symbol of National Pride?
I dont know seems to me that its a symbol of lawlessness

I just pass by this Tourist shop and saw this little toy jeepneys that they are selling. And I wondered. Is Jeepney really something to be proud of as of this time?

Ok so i made this bec. everytime I bike commute jeepneys would cut me off like am not in existence

Nah, not really. Doesn't matter, the oldskool style jeepneys, the multicab/tamaraw/converted truck jeepneys, et al. They're all rubbish.

Ako iniiwasan ko nang mag dyip, pag papunta akong Manila nagbu-bus ako, halos pareho lang ang pamasahe (kahit A/C). O kaya nagte-tren. I'm fond of the LRT-2, even if it'll cost me 10 pesos more to get to Sampaloc from Diliman heheheh.

Why should people be proud of it in the first place? It's not like it's an innovation or anything, they're just junk WW2 Jeeps with colorful paint.

They're also the epitome of road discourtesy in this country.

historically---yes

technologically---no

it is basically an engine on a body... nothing more nothing less...

i think it would be better if one of tsikot's seasoned testdriver/writer will do a performance evaluation on our jeep in terms of: comfort, suspension, styling, ergonomics(kng meron man) etc..

i wonder what they will have to say...

Yup. The Jeep is a dinosaur, well deserving of a burial. Too bad we don't have the political will to enforce a total ban on these rolling coffins.

jeepney drivers are discourteous only when you are riding in your car. when you are the jeepney driver or jeepney passenger, it is the car drivers who are the "mayabang" and discorteous ones, especially when cars honk horns when caught behind in traffic.

jeepneys are junk and rubbish when you are inside your brand new airconditioned sedan or suv. to the riding public it is a work of art, a proof of filipino "can do".

i guess it all it all depends on where at you are looking from.

Hehehe. I wonder if the posters above have ridden a jeep in their life. :D You may not be proud for the jeep but how about the services it gives to you both indirectly and directly like the transportation(buses doesn't ply all MM roads) your employees uses when going to work in your factory, shops, etc.

The Jeepney is a Dinosaur... A relic of the past... It should no longer be plying the streets, but should, instead, be inside a museum where it can be admired properly (and safely).
