May 5th, 2015 04:59 PM #1Hi guys, I am contemplating of buying a 2nd hand Mercedes Benz. I saw in the net a C200 year 2002 Php 690k and a C180 year 2006 Php 800k. Any thoughts between the two? This will be an extra car on top of my existing vehilces (Monty and Pajero). Im not afraid of getting my hands dirty for repairs, though I don't have any idea how much it cost to repair a mercy hehe.
Also, any advice on what to check for a 2nd hand mercedes benz. Many thanks.

Wiring harness is a nightmare, I heard. A few years back, it costs about a hundred grand.

June 21st, 2016 07:24 PM #4Better get the C180 between the two because the C200 being a 2002 model is a pre facelift model which has a lot of bugs on it. The C180 on the other hand being an '06 is a post facelift version of the W203 chassis which means that most, if not all of the bugs should already be ironed out.

I woudnt get a 2000-2006 Mercedes. A similar age BMW would be more reliable. Thats the era when daimler stepped in and completely ruined their quality.

August 17th, 2017 02:03 AM #7Get the newer generation model. We have a 2001 c200 and also drove a 2009 c180, the 180 is leaps and bounds better, faster, lighter, more responsive.

February 19th, 2018 10:13 PM #8If your budget can be stretched a bit, I recommend getting a w204 instead as that generation seems generally solid and it should be easy to find one for under 1M.
However, if you can even go further, I think a facelifted w204 (2011-2014) interior is just so much better.

April 19th, 2019 07:28 PM #9Just reviving this thread. Are there any issues bugging the 2017 C200 or C180? Is this a better car than the CLA200 or CLA180? Better in terms of power, ride, fun factor?

Blue-labeled Motolite Gold are factory-supplied OEM batteries with only 1 year warranty.
Cheaper brands than Motolite but reliable as well
