    W204 C200K Avantgarde Calcite White

    Hi,

Hope you don't mind. Just wanted to ask you about the maintenance costs of a W204.

How often is the PMS? And what are the rates? How is the car overall?

I currently use a 2006 civic FD, and was thinking of moving up to a Sonata or an Accord. I think I'll be comfortable with the maintenance costs of these two mid-size cars. But the new W204 C200 CGI model looks really great (inside and outside). Perhaps if I save-up for another year I can stretch my budget.

Just want to know the regular maintenance costs. My uncle owns a current model BMW 3 series. Regular PMS for him is about 10-12k. I can live with a cost like that.

Really appreciate your reply. Thanks. Sorry for hi-jacking the post.

    hey bartman.
the w204 is a great car. it runs on blaze so filling the tank alone is kinda pricey but for someone who has the funds it should be no problem. anyway, the car as with all mercs have ASSYST PLUS is sort of the PMS watcher. it recalculates daily based on the driver's usage when your next service is. the system has staggered levels i.e. Service A > Service B > Service A1 and such each with different tasks due. it displays daily on your dash a countdown to your next service. i.e. with that car, which wasnt used daily, it took more or less a year for my Service A whereas my pal who got a C63 which he used daily and had fun runs in the weekends was already due for Service A1 after a year (3x in a year). Plus, CATS texts/alerts you when your car is due also. the car itself will also let you know when its due. cost per pms depends on what needs to be done but in my experience it was somewhere similarly in that range 10-15k including the parts/stuff used.
the c200 is great especially with the new CGI engines but i would advise you wait for the w204 update later this year or early next year. its well worth the wait. the update is extensive and seems like a total overhaul especially with the interior. cats has great financing promos lately. but since your waiting a year more, i suggest you see the update.
bottom line, nothing beats a german car. built quality alone surpasses most, much more if you would include performance. also, compared to a 3-series, you would get more bang for your buck from the c-class. standard equipment alone trumps whats featured on the bimmer. it was such a let down for me back in '07 when we went around. as for audi i couldnt say because this is one brand i have yet to test. hehehe.
anyway, you couldnt go wrong with the c-class. hope this helped.

Thanks a lot for your inputs. Now I have a better idea in the running costs. My mileage per year would probably be around 12,000 kms per year. Probably need to have about 2 services per year.

Yep, I think the c-class is a lot better than the 3 series, especially the interior. The BMW doesn't seem that luxurious inside. I'm more inclined towards comfort.

Got your pm as well. Time to save up a bit more. Thanks again.

(Just saw that the W204 C-class itself has a separate topic. Was buried about 3-4 pages deep on the topic list. Sorry mods. Will post there next time.)

That should be just fine but I would suggest you use Petron's Blaze 100 for optimum performance results.
