i plan to convert my video 8 tapes to vdd format. saka na DVD format pag me dvd writer na ko

The solutions still apply since your source is still an analog format, assuming you're using regular 8mm. The biggest sticking point for you would be transferring your analog footage to the pc. There are several ways to do this.

* The first is a dedicated capture device. It can either be an internal pci card or an external usb/usb2 device. Some common brands are Pinnacle and Dazzle.

* Another method is using a tv tuner card. Again, there are both internal (pci) and external (usb/usb2) versions. They have ports where you can hook up video sources and copy footage to the hard drive. Some brands are Hauppage, Leadtek, and ATI.

* A third method is less common. Some video cards have a built-in tv tuner or Video In ports where you can hook in any video source and save to the hard drive. Many video cards have ViVo features on them which is short for Video In and Video Out.

I have the last 2 in my pc. For you...... If you've never done it before, best to stick with option 1. That way, you'll have the software needed to capture and edit your recorded footage plus the software to make vcd's and dvd's with.

You'll also need a decent video-editing app. A good choice I use is Studio, also by Pinnacle:

The quality of recorded footage will vary. But, they won't improve any if converted to digital format:

One last thing:

If you absolutely don't care about editing footage and want the fastest, best quality footage with simple menus, buy a dedicated DVD Recorder (which also does VCD, SVCD). I got my LiteON LVW-5005XS which came with 4-pin firewire, progressive scan, 3-separate AV inputs, records DVD (1 hr), SVCD (2 hrs), VCD (4-6 hrs), uses the formats CDR/CDRW, DVD+R/DVD+RW, DVD-R/DVD-RW, all for less than $90.
